and most of this talk goes away. We knew this would be a close game and you often need good FG kickers to win close games.

It's not all on Norton, but I had a feeling we'd lose a close one this year because we couldn't make a big FG.

Got to agree on all counts.

When he missed, I also said to myself...that might've been the ball game.

When your offense is smoke & mirrors and luck and held together with Elmer's and scotch tape...u can't leave points on the board.

Like the XP.

But let's not lose focus, board newbies in a meltdown have their pitchforks & torches and are marching on GMC

Gotta love the people going after our top recruiter bringing in WR talent after watching that game. :bang:

Actually I disagree the facts are the same IMO. While we would have won I would have ben disgusted by the offense and its execution against a mediocre Division-1 unit. In college football today it seems all around the country almost every team struggles on defense and can score points, but Syracuse has been the exact opposite recently it seems. If Norton makes than FG it just gets us bowl eligible. I wish we could see an offense more in line with the rest of the country more than just one year 2012. I am not calling for any coaches heads after 1 season, but they are using all their patience capital for me this season. Our offense looks SO BAD out there it makes me sick. The fact we still have a shot at a bowl amazes me hopefully we can beat the Clowns just for the extra 15 practices, but our offense is easily in the bottom 25% percentile in the country and we have excellent RBs which makes it so frustrating.

Our top recruiter has brought in one kid so far and ran the wildcat with under 6 minutes to go at the 50 yard line. Mcdonald was terrible today, absolutely horrible calling plays.

I like the looks of the WRs coming in next season...looks a lot better than the kids who wanted to play for Sean Payton's OC.

I agree but Mcdonald didnt bring in all those guys. Its clear this offense is limited but that play calling was Div 3 esq, downright awful.

... or if Lynch recovers the fumble in the 1st qtr and Pitt doesn't score... or either of the throws in the endzone are caught by SU WRs for TDs... I'm sure there are other plays that would have been game-changers.

BTW, the missed FG had a lousy snap, and while Loeb made a nice recovery to spot the ball, sometimes a little thing like that are just enough to throw off a kickers focus and/or timing.

That's because the talent asked to execute it...is.

People think our talent is on the level with ND...and the coaching should be on par with saben.

Not excusing the poor playcalling, but this ^^^ is right. We need better QB, WR, OL to run the offense we've implemented.

Help is on the way for at least two of the above positions.

Not that I necessarily disagree, but assume you mean this is the state of SU Football. Or, that you have faith this staff can go out and recruit.

What everyone still fails to realize: it's a talent and depth issue.

Fwiw, I'm not sure if I know if it's the former or the later.

you gotta think that a 53 yd fg at the end of the game has a better chance than a 4 &9 with our offense

I thought the same. His miss may have been good from 53 if it was straight. I'd rather have missed the fg than what transpired, did anyone really think we'd make a 4th an 8 ?

Not sure that I understand this post. ;)

Whether that's attributable to the beer you've consumed or that I'm consumed today is open to debate.

Not when we throw a 5 yard pass to a guy covered. But the OL was a big part of that.

You mean like that catch AC made, or Wales for the first down. The design of the pass offense is bizarre.

Only on the previous play before Pitt called the time out.

Kaiser was saying (my speculation) that the "Board Newbies" are out looking for blood. My point was: it has less to do with GMC and more to do with the talent level and general state of the program.

Kaiser was (rightly so IMO) using the "board newbies" as a means to say there are bigger issues (my words not his). My question to him was whether or not we are what are (and will be for the foreseeable future) or if he believes this Staff can recruit out of this?

As I said earlier...I have no idea. If pressed, I'm inclined to believe we are what we are with the occasional decent season (Pinstripe Bowls). But, we have only been ranked once (I believe) in the BCS rankings in the BCS era. And that was 1998 and I think we were 15th. Even when the fianl rankings moved to include the top 25, we have not been in there. 15 years into it...you are what you are.

My sense was you were using the newbies to make the point that there are bigger issues than those the newbies are running around with wadded panties over.

We' re 11 games in and we still get false starts from our linemen, they need to have a meeting , and start holding each other accountable.

I'm fine with suffering to get recruits but this guy doesn't know what he is doing on Saturdays. That's why a qb coach has to leave our qb to upstairs and babysit. Gmc sucked more balls than the lottery machine
