Not only will the ACC Not Implode...

If Miami can leave the ACC for more money, they will do it.
I don't think they're basking in the glow of ACC glory.
They are going to make/keep $20M for this playoff run. Just like ND last year. Staying in the ACC would give Miami the same opportunity as ND every year...only Miami at least has the never-exercised-yet potential to win the ACC and get an autobid. ND does not. Miami's revenue this year may end up being far more comparable to Florida than one would expect given the SEC/ACC payout disparity.

Maybe this whole season of W-W-NCAA seems st up to convince fans that we need a 16-team playoff... byes do not work, plus schools like Texas/ND are left out for James Madison/Tulane. If we are letting a G5 in, it needs to 1/16, not 1/12 or (gasp) 1/6.

Before this season I thought Miami was a school that the B1G was targeting. I think their success this year makes that even greater. I still think UNC is target #1 but you can make the argument that Miami has passed them.

Ironically the ACC allowing Miami to keep the playoff money makes it easier for them to eventually leave the ACC since they do not have to raise as much.

I feel like the playoffs worked just fine this year. I would much rather see a JMU and/or a Tulane get a shot than a couple of teams from big conferences (and ND) who didnt do everything they needed to make a playoff. Texas lost out to Oklahoma. An argument can be made that neither deserved a bid and instead give it to ND. (It was fun to see ND's petulant reaction).

I think the ACC will eventually implode and I know I'm in the minority but this is why I like the current system. Bunch of new teams in evenly matched, great games with each season providing an entirely new opportunity.

My hope is nobody does anything - the current model will eventually wear itself out financially. Institutions will settle where they settle (academics vs athletics) and programs will land where they are supposed to. In the meantime - enjoy the games which are better than ever, and wait for the day that you have to decide on your level of fandom for SU and sports in general.

They have a better chance of getting to where they want to from here. They are even more out of place than the LA teams in that conference. Not to mention the consistent moving the goal posts on realignment on this board is pure comedy.

Is there a stat that shows W-L for rematches in the playoffs or bowls (pre-playoff)? Wouldn't be surprised if the team that loses the first matchup has a significantly better than .500 record in the rematch.

I think it will be a close game. Indiana went from underrated to overrated after the big Alabama win, but many don't realize how mediocre Bama has been. I said it before the selection that they shouldn't make the playoffs, but would b/c of SEC bias. SEC 0-5 in the playoffs this year, while ACC 3-0.

I don't think anyone is going to touch Indiana. They're a class above everyone left. Going to take some fluke plays/turnovers to beat them. They're the best TEAM I've seen in a long time and have no real weaknesses.

Well ...
Ole Miss got revenge on UGA (playoff)
Bama got revenge on Oklahoma (playoff)
Georgia got revenge on Bama (SEC championship)
Last year OSU got revenge on Oregon (playoff)

Other than TTU beating BYU twice, I think the second time around the loser of the first game got revenge statistically speaking over the last couple seasons.

Why not?

The point of my comment is that I just don't believe that their success means that the ACC will be more successful.

If their football program is able to experience multiple consecutive years of success - which is possible but not guaranteed - you could argue that, overall, the ACC benefits from this. I just don't think Miami's success guarantees that the rest of the ACC will be in a better position (i.e. getting more money).

I think their success means that they get a bigger bag. That's all.

This is predominantly what college football is right now - how do I get the biggest amount of money possible? Don't really care where.

I think Miami boosters are far more realistic than FSU boosters. They understand that if they get back to being good, their chances of being in the playoffs multiple times in a decade are much higher in the ACC than the SEC or BT. And that is what they want - far more than they want to get the biggest TV money.

It is not just football people with the focus. You have KU basketball people wondering how their program can remain what it has been historically if SEC and BT teams get more TV money. You have UK basketball fans taking comfort in the money from SE football being so big, because that is their hoops advantage over ACC programs.

Don’t think SEC is 0-5 in the playoffs. 5 teams in, all are out though.

I'm not sure about that. Miami looked better against ohio state than indiana did. I also expect indiana to win tonight, but oregon is no slouch. We're gonna have another good semifinal tonight.
I wonder how healthy they are. The seemed to have some guys dinged up when Ole Miss was moving the ball better in the second half.
