Not sure if Mr. Betsey was the parent that complained at the game, but

I like Betsey. Even if he doesn't start, he could get more minutes. That said, he needs to be more than a 3pt shooter. Games in which he goes off (which is great) he limits his own game. He just camps out waiting for 3 opportunities and stops looking for opportunities to drive, look for assists, rebound, etc. He can do more, we saw that in games earlier this season. He has a pretty decent mid range game. I think Betsey could be a more complete player but his role (or what he often decides to do) limits his game.

And you wonder why a lot of the old time college coaches are hanging it up? Parents like Mr.Betsey, who wildly overestimate the talent of their own kids. Most of these kids are coddled and have been all stars at the aau level. Unfortunately, that does not always guarantee success at the college level. And heavens forbid if you try to instill discipline as a coach and send a guy to the bench to send a message. I think if Autry needs to learn anything, it’s that he is their coach , not their friend. Everyone does not need to get 10 minutes of playing time. I also think that Melo being at most every game and sitting court side is putting pressure on Autry to play Kiyan. It’s just another added distraction.

From the podcast with Bryan Hodgson that I linked in another thread:
"I’ve got Joe Pinions here, he plays for me now and I’m thrilled to have him and he wasn’t playing well when he transferred to us from University of Arkansas. His camp thought it was great because he was shooting 40% from three and they just couldn’t figure out why I didn’t have a former top 100 SEC player on the floor.

And so I got him a call with dad and him and I sat him down and I showed him the defensive leverage and that was great. He turned around and said, 'Joe, you better find a way to play some defense or I wouldn’t play [you] either.' Right? Until they saw those numbers, you know, it was kind of like, what’s wrong with coach? Why is he not playing him?

And everyone was excited about the idea of Melo, Lala big Kim K
But I wondered with Autry and the current state of affairs how will that go if its not going well

Alotta times over the last idk 10 yrs, we lose and say, eh the better team won. Now we wonder how did we lose that game? I’ll be honest, I thought VTech was a lot better of a team coming in, than they were Wed night. We should have put them away before half. Don’t even get me started on BC.
