We were # 1 for a good part of 2010 and 2012. How many times did we do that in the previous 30 years?

Good call on 10-12. My memory sucks and I just pulled "10 years" at random.
Still, my history with SU begins in 85. Top 10 rankings, conference finishes, conference championships, and recruits were the norm and not aberrations.

I’d say 1986-1990 and 2010-2014 are the best 5 year periods we’ve had. We weren’t in the top 10 that often in the 90’s. Top 25 usually, but not top 10.
