Notre Dame playing dirty against ACC football teams

I feel like you're completely dismissing the current realty that if Royal doesn't play for the University of Texas, he has an escape hatch and can immediately play at Texas Tech now.

That didn't exist in the "time before."

I think it's still going to come down to who's offering the $$$.

Would bigger schools sell a story to build more depth and weaken the competition if they can make it worth the kid's while?

Narduzzi doesn't strike me as the type of guy who's thought this all the way through.

No, I am assuming that it will be more than it currently is. That plus the ACC partial share plus full ACC Network profits share = More than enough TV/conference money for ND to continue to be independent.
That's pretty nice accounting to be able to fall back on. It certainly helps the ND bottom line.

Except that the factories still get to sift through the best guys before casting off their scraps. With a smaller scholly limit some of those guys that the factories want to try out for a year go somewhere else from the start and end up being better than the guys that the factories would've cut loose. And there's always opportunity to bring in the cast offs, if they're better than what's on the roster.

That part about the factories sifting through the best guys though will always be true though.

Sure, but the higher number of schollarships they have, the more guys they bring in, and the better chance they have to find the busts and get rid of them.

When ND's deal comes up they can probably start a bidding war between CBS & NBC if they are so inclined. According to the WSJ ND is the 5th most valuable CFB program in the country, they have no reason to join any conference.

Does it actually matter? The national championship contenders are somewhat decided in the pre-season.

I guess if none of it matters, get rid of all the rules attempting to provide any competitve balance.
