Notre Dame Post Game

He is freaking injured. What is more likely? Option A - going into his final year of college hoops, his final chance to make a name for himself before taking a shot at any type of pro basketball overseas or otherwise, he kicks back, pigs out, and allows himself to get in far worse shape than he was last season at Colorado. He figures hey I got one big check so why even try and get in shape this off-season? I’ll just wait until I try for the pros to get in serious shape and I’m sure they won’t mind my film for my final year being horrendous. I’m sure this won’t have any effect on my reputation going forward.

Option B - he trains just as hard as he has every offseason and unfortunately sustains a back injury towards the end of it. The injury holds back his ability to keep his conditioning up to his or his teams standard at the start of the season, but he still fights through it to give the team everything he can, not wanting to let the fans or his teammates down, and not wanting to let his future in hoops slip away because of a weak final season.

If you think it is option A you are a freaking hater. This is bs from our fans who are basically in full agreement with DCs fat asz sitting and complaining on his couch.
Thank you for this. So many clowns on this board attacking Eddie and don’t have a clue as to the facts of the situation. Alot of assumptions are being made but we don’t know anything.

Where did this intel come from that Clemson got Joe into shape!? Joe looked the same to me. He did have Covid the one season, but that was 2-3 years removed.
I remember reading an article last year about Joe dropping a good amount of weight (don’t remember the exact number) when he got to Clemson. Also, someone posted a video in this thread of an interview where Joe joked that he couldn’t eat cookies and other junk food because he was on a diet. Although the comment was lighthearted, it was obvious to the naked eye that Joe looked MUCH trimmer and more cut last year at Clemson. Not surprisingly, his efficiency numbers went way up due to being in better condition and not being the primary ball handler. Somehow we couldn’t figure those two things out when he was here. I remember reading a Syracuse dot com article a few years ago in which joe talked about how he lifted with his old football buddies back in GF during the quarantine, and that caused him to put on too much upper body mass. How was he (and every other Syracuse player) not put on a specific work out regimen during his time away from campus. It’s like the Grob days when the football team didn’t even do pre and post season strength and conditioning testing. I don’t know the ins and outs of what Cabiles and his staff are or aren’t doing, but we have over a decade of observations that prove what ever they are doing is unacceptable for a P4 conference team.

There was no way Autry was going to get rid of Cabiles, but I’m confident the next coach will when they go with an outside the family hire. I truly feel bad for Red…a great person, recruiter, family man. But he hasn’t shown anything that makes me confident that he can turn this around.

Perception is in the eye of the beholder, as they say...

I watched some of his games for Clemson, including the one he played against us.

I have my own opinion. I don't think I am alone in that opinion, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

You don't have to agree and a cited 3rd source is not needed.

The only weak argument is assuming he threw away his basketball career to chow down on some food! That is the biggest stretch there is. I am suggesting the possibility that the dude is not a total piece of garbage! Is there no way in your mind that he hurt himself first and that lead to the conditioning issues? You are a hater if you fully assume he just got lazy and that’s how he got hurt. This place is just plain nasty now!’
No. Ask those close to the program if he was in good shape or overweight when he got to Syracuse. Do some research before you jump to conclusions.

Joe supposedly dropped over 10 pounds. Maybe 15.

Here’s another one- why is Naheem McLeod defending him in the comments if he saw him slacking off all off-season? Why are his teammates and coaches not showing any slight hostility towards him on the bench or to the press if they saw him slacking off all off-season? Because he freaking didn’t slack off!! Freaking ridiculous our fans our saying stuff not out of place from UConn fan trolls on twitter
It seems that you are working hard to defend the weight gain. Being injured does not necessarily lead to gaining weight. When I was in college I was a runner, ran cross-country and track. One year I had a skiing accident, injured my knee, was on crutches for 8 weeks and couldn't exercise at all. I didn't gain a pound. I was 21, my metabolism and a reasonable diet kept me at my same weight. An injury does not mean you have to gain weight. It does not mean you should end up as out of shape as he is. I understand the injury and sympathize with him. But, at his age, he should still stay in decent shape if he wants to be a successful D1 arthletel.
