Notre Dame vs The World

No we don't need Notre Dame, what ESPN and the ACC needs is every team scheduling a yearly game with the SEC. That way we can develope rivalries and make more money for ourselves and ESPN.
It will also help in recruiting for both conferences. Plus a united front against the Big.
ACC vs SEC challenge but in football

Athletic directors in other leagues, who learned from Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger on Sunday about the memorandum of understanding that grants Notre Dame preferential playoff access, are threatening to freeze them out of future schedules. (Who knows if they’ll follow through. For all its issues, Notre Dame fills stadiums and drives TV ratings.)

They've had the power to force ND into a conference this whole time, they just had to click their ruby slippers together and say don't schedule ND, don't schedule ND.

Up to now, no one has really had the balls to do it. Maybe they've all turned a corner now, especially with the 9 conference games coming up. All each conference would have to do is say that ND doesn't count toward your P4 OOC (although what's the penalty for not scheduling a P4 OOC?).

Agree. Poor babies.

I think back on all the deserving teams that have been passed over for bowls through the years so that ND could get selected. Not to mention all the teams that got screwed by the refs in South Bend.

Not to mention, SU vs ND 1961.

So I am more than happy to raise a glass of Irish whiskey and laugh at ND until my sides hurt.

I don't hold grudges. I remember things.

Forever.
You omitted the 2 (at least) undeserved Heismans--Tim Brown and Paul Hornung,

Maybe the USC move was an omen.

How is Notre Dame crumbling? They can literally choose whatever conference they go to and will be welcome with open arms. Meanwhile, Syracuse will never have a seat at the table. This threat is really unbecoming.
ND will be welcomed by the B1G and SEC only if they bring their football program. And ND is not likely to give up their football independence.

For the sake of board history, let it be known that “Notre Dame vs The World” was not the title I started this thread with, and I’m deeply offended that someone changed it to such a boring subject line.

I would have called it: Touchdown Grievance.

I thought it was a Norm MacDonald take.

Not knowing that this was the thread to include it in, when the grievances started I started a thread titled "Notre Dame vs. The ACC" but the mods moved it to this thread. At least it's a bit more descriptive now of what it became. Sorry your original thread was hi-jacked by the history of all the grievances. But I do like your alternate title.

They don’t. Not anymore.

Once upon a time, when the BCS ruled the land and bowl tie ins were important, ND was a net positive for the ACC

Now, with a 12 team CFP, soon to be 16? Nope. They’re not adding much to the media deal. Just 2-3 football games a year that ACC members could easily instead play against top flight B1G or SEC teams to get the same attendance and TV value.

Honestly, at this point the ACC should tell ND to go join the Big East.
Hopefully the ACC can figure out their tiebreakers by the time we go to 16.

I don't think that they could pull off the Big East and FB Indy any longer. Even with the 5 ACC games it will be hard for them to have 10 P4 games every year going forward. The P4s will be at 9+1 which leaves fewer spots for ND to fill. Without the 5 ACC games it becomes even harder.

I am sure BC, Pitt, Stanford will be willing to keep playing ND every year. But that still leaves ND in a hole. Any team with playoff aspirations will not want to play ND past Columbus Day. Even with Navy, a G6, the 3 ACC teams mentioned above, and a bye week, ND will still need to play 2 other games. I suppose they could get games vs bottom to middling P4 programs, but that will hurt ND's SOS similar to this year where they played nobody after A&M.

Without the ACC deal, ND might be forced to join a conference.
ND's issue with the ACC is that invariably most of the five games with ACC teams are against teams that are often unranked. It's killing their SOS.
