I agree that the NCAA is very hypocritical. And Cal may bend every rule in the book for all I know or maybe he doesn't. I don't know. But I'm not ignoring any 75%. If you did any research on it you'd know that the Camby and Rose allegations are essentially the entire crux of the matter. And I know that if that were JB and not Cal then most folks here would be defending JB to the hilt (and I really wouldn't blame them). And you wouldn't be calling them apologists.

I think this is a fair post. But I'll agree to disagree on what would happen if the same flagrant rule breaking occurred here--because JB wouldn't flee, and BOTH our school and coach would be impacted by NCAA penalties. If the preponderance of what occurred at UMass / Memphis under Cal occurred at SU, JB would deserve all the criticism he would get.

yep, simple as that! he's got a heart of gold!

So if he there were no sanctions against those two schools he doesn't make either move? You don't really believe that do you?

UK must be a dumb dumb school to give a cheater almost 60 million dollars over 7 years, I bet they can smell the sanctions coming. Do you think they're stupid enough to invest that kind of money into a coach they think is cheating or questionable at this point of his career? Please, also tell me why UK would have to pay ANYBODY to play for them? If a kid or a parent asks for money they can tell them to go to hell and grab another top recruit, I doubt they risk what they have by paying players or doing things that are against NCAA rules. I have a feeling none of these Kentucky kids will be scoreboard operators at a YMCA. I doubt they risk petty crap like that because it is a very easy way to open some eyes, I doubt they want to open any.

Oh my God yes. That fanbase is Penn State crazy.

Brutal sanctions? Memphis did not lose any scholarships or have any postseason ban. If that is your definition of brutal penalties... lol. Both Memphis & UMass fell off the national basketball landscape because they lost Calipari not because of anything of that the NCAA did to them.

Talk about an off the wall take. LOL. I honestly don't think that you understand what happened in either situation.

I do agree that they were worse off when Cal departed. But that isn't the only reason they "fell off the national basketball landscape."

Hell no.

Well, I watched the final four we played in, I watched the tournament we played in that year, I enjoyed every win as a fan and have those memories. Taking a banner down really doesn't mean too much to me. Worrying about the future of the program because we're losing 12 scholarships is worse than taking down a banner in my opinion.

Well tell me where espn and the rest of the media world placed an asterisk after cal landed recruiting coup after coup.. if he had been implicated as at fault in both the umass and memphis situations it goes from an asterisk to a documented violation. UK is not hiring the coach labeled twice as a cheater to lead their program. Possibly even memphis doesnt hire him either. The fact he stayed untouched is why they had no issue. Tell me how that one is incorrect..

Kentucky would hire a known felon to run their program if it meant FF appearances.

Haha i agree based upon their history but in the modern world if cal had dirt all over him they dont. Especially on the heels of the gillespie crap.

Not sure he's referring to the fan base.

Semantics ... "They" as in the SEC school and their admin that are empowered by crazy fans with deep pockets.

Not far off. They've flagrantly violated the rules for years, across decades, across coaching staffs. I'm not saying that every coach has cheated, or that Cal even has to cheat now with this machine he has going. But UK is dirty. Always has been.

Complete bunk.

So if what happened to us happened over at UK you'd be so strong against the NCAA saying UK got a bad deal out of it? Nah, what's complete bunk is that you're not honest about it, if what happened to us over at Kentucky you probably have a hardon for a month going around saying I told you so to everybody you could say something to. Come on RF.

I actually read the report on us. After I did, I wasn't quite as concerned about the infractions as I was when I read the cliff notes / heard the sound bytes, and I expressed on here that I thought we had grounds to challenge. Lo and behold, our chancellor [who is an attorney] feels the same way. If UK had the same accusations, I would form my own opinion after reviewing the data. The same way that I've read quite a bit about UNC's alleged infractions, and formed an objective opinion instead of just accepting what the media [or evenaully, what the NCAA's] perspective tells us what happened there.

As for your claim that I'd be saying I told you so, that is complete BS. I don't need to say "I told you so" -- never have had to do that on this forum, and I never will. But I DO stick to what I said earlier that the viewpoint you're expressing takes some serious rationalization / head in the sand burying.

RF you have plenty of time to post here but no time to give a simple explanation of what happened beyond Camby/Rose.

They are dumb but it's part of their culture. They are the most penalized program in history. Once a decade since the 50's. Six times I think. So they are due.

Dude your on a planet of your own.. honestly. You oversimplify everything. And seriously ive never seen a cuse fan so aggressively argue on the behalf of an opposing teams coach.

I didn't realize we were arguing UK vs. Syracuse. I didn't realize I couldn't be a basketball fan in general if I loved Syracuse basketball. When was the last time we played any Calipari team? How many times have we played him? I don't give anybody a hard time about sniffing Shaka Smart's butt around here.
