Obama coming to the Carrier Classic

Loved the Carrier Classic. Usually had 1 other name team and a couple of slugs. A couple times the slugs won. Young man named Earvin Johnson was the MVP from a losing team as a freshman.

There is some irony in the fact that while SU defeated a team with a legendary 6-9 point guard in one of the early CC's, I believe the last time they lost the event was to a smaller Michigan school led by a 5-5 point guard named Earl Boykins.

Didn't we play them in Rochester in the ECAC at some point in the late-'70s?

We played them in Rochester many times in the ECAC Upstate Final. The winner played the winner of the ECAC South (?) final (at least once, G'town). Winner got an auto bid to the NCAA's.
