Official Boneyard Unintentional Hilarity Thread.

I’ve actually been to the Mohegan Sun...before I was old enough to go to bars. I didn’t remember the name of the town.

I had to fly into Hartford, rent a car, and drive home once when my flight from Philly to Albany was cancelled.

Probably a perfectly nice place to raise a family.

Lots of stone fences.

Boring as all hell in terms of destinations or things to do.
I live in Ct. Mohegan Sun is in the middle of nowhere. As a casino should be.

Nice restaurants in West Hartford and Litchfield. It's nice in the fall. Weather sucks in the winter but unlike in Syracuse the locals can't deal.

That covers it i think.

I do business with a printing vendor in CT. Tunxis grill in Windsor is where it's at.

It's the where the Mohegan Sun casino is. The games will be played in their ballroom, just like the Battle for Atlantis is played in theirs.

I dont know if that's true, but Mohegan Sun does have a 10,000 seat arena on site. I'm guessing the games will be played there, not a ballroom.

This event used to be played in Springfield MA at the HOF as its the HOF tip off classic. Like the Great Alaskan Shootout it was a biggie once upon a time.

You'll be playing in a pretty cool 10k seat arena. Sadly it will be mostly empty.

Umass and then ASU/St Johns winner should be 2 easy wins. You can bet on the games across the border in RI if not in the casino itself.

That event usually has good teams Duke played Hurleys good URI team there a couple years back last year it was Michigan and PC (who wasn't expected to suck like they ultimately did.)

Feel bad for you guys for having to come to the Dome for your opener I'd be furious if I were a UVA fan that the ACCN weird early November opener wasn't at home to raise your banner and you gotta do it the next game against UMBC or whoever the next opponent is ;).

For us "older folks" having us open in the Dome is a perfect example of what we call the ACC's "Rule 2b" - "Whenever two or more options are available to the ACC, the one most detrimental to UVa must be chosen." It's part of the continuing payback for refusing to move a football game we had scheduled with FSU to a different time slot to accommodate ABC. Can anyone imagine another conference's attempting to do something like this? Bueller?

Greensboro didn't have much of an option when it came to the football opener. I don't think ( but I'm not 100% sure) Pitt had a game already scheduled for the Labor Day weekend, and I know Ga Tech and UVa didn't have a game originally scheduled for that weekend. I thought we'd play Ga Tech. Instead, they got Clemson's game rescheduled so they could open with Ga Tech on Thursday.

The thing with UCONN is this - did they get screwed in realignment? Yeah sorta, but they did everything possible not to help themselves.

Just wait until the playoff gets expanded to 8 teams and the G5 gets a slot. Their football fans are going to go blind with rage.
Or later when Cincinnati, South Florida, Temple or Navy make the playoffs.

If there are any left by then ...

While I don't want to throw them a lifeline, it's an easy trip for a lot of fans and an easy win. Would only do a 3-1.
I'd be cool with a 2 for 1 or a 1 at Dome and 1 at Yankee Stadium

That's a good idea. I think a big issue would be TV for their home game. I also love the idea of how whiny their fans would be when they have to watch them on the ACCN.

Sounds good in theory, but would UConn football draw at Yankee Stadium? They haven't even been able to get their own fans at their home stadium. Would playing Syracuse in NYC in football change that?

SU-UConn hoops at MSG is a whole different ballgame - literally - does SU-UConn football have that kind of juice?

No. It doesn't

It would be an relatively easy hike from Avon to East Hartford to watch Cuse take on a Wagner-caliber opponent. So that would be nice.

They are the 6th Borough!

That means they will bring 5000.

I'd expect a game at YS would draw about 25-30K if they price the tickets correctly.

Their brains are so broken...

It was nice to see the 'cuse guys lose just now. Couldn't care less about most of their players, but revel in Devendorf losing. And their fans.
It also occurs to me that the correct name for a team of former syracuse players would be The EXCUSE.

Great news! A study was just done concluding that UConn NBA players had the highest median salary since 1991!

If this is not recruiting gold, I don't know what is.

And there's poor old Kentucky, in 10th place.

Where's 'cuse?
I know you are lurking Danny. Please get this out to all prospects ASAP!

Yes Danny Hurley, who I can only assume has placed myriad NBA players from UCONN needs to put this on blast.

Lol bragging about something that was done before you and all of your staff (except the great Tom Moore) was there. What a weapon!

Also Cal, Wake Forest and Georgetown were ahead of Kansas, Kentucky, UNC, etc.

Think Cal will start pulling guys instead of UK and UNC now ?
