Official Wake Game Thread

National Safety Expo

I'm stating at Sheraton ATL downtown

I'm NE of the city up past Buford but make it into the ATL semi frequently. In the suburbs there is so much to do there really isn't a need to go into Atlanta often.

Huge win, great finish. I hope the young QB we saw from late 3rd quarter on is more indicitave of the future than what he did for the first 2.5 quarters. The secondary worries me but they stepped up late.

They will go as the pressure goes ... believe that. The front four dialed it up a notch.

Too tight and conservative first half which was my main fear coming in

These kids can play - very bright future for sure

I agree, but I also think that Lester was still feeding Dungey in rather than putting the full weight of the offense on his shoulders. The halftime adjustments and Dungey's cool head may change that around. Let's see what happens next week with CMU. If we remain too conservative in the first half routinely, then we are not playing to our abilities and will get beat bad by the top teams. Dungey is showing he can handle pressure and our D is proving they are nearly as good as last season and can be better.

This group of young players is different. If you weren't at the game you didn't see it, but late in the game during tv timeouts they were going nuts on the field trying to get our pathetic sized crowd going. I believe our younger guys are going to have a lot of success in their future.

I was working so I didn't get to see much of the game, so I'm going to be catching up on what happened by reading the Wake board. Because I need a good laugh.

This is absolutely hilarious!!! Read this thread from the beginning if you haven't. Until Dungey throws that first TD, an impartial observer would deduce, based on the comments, that the general consensus is this team will win 1 or 2 games. Post Dungey TD, what a difference. He's anointed as the savior, an example of our teams young talent, he can lead us to a bowl game, he's poised, he's smart, he's efficient, the team is young and talented and only going to get better. I believe some of the second half of those sentiments for what it's worth. Not going to anoint him yet, but think he can at least get the job done.
Yes members have a right to comment on observations, but to decide how they feel the rest of the season will go based on 3 quarters of a freshmans first start against a top 30 defense, and a somewhat limited playbook, is just shortsighted...and hilarious to go back and read.

You new here?

:D

top 30 defense?
Typo. Meant to say top 40 defense. Wake had a defense ranked 38th in the country in total defense last year. So while my number was in error, the spirit of the post remains the same. Wake has a nice defense, and Dungey certainly performed admirably against it all things considered.

Welcome to the board. The one place I never judge posters on are the "game threads". Some crazy, emotional, and many times alcohol induced stuff goes on in those threads. What happens in game threads, stays in game threads. Always a hilarious s*it show. Always entertaining

Exactly, well said. IN addition our defense can be maddening to watch, BIG PLAYS either way, big stops, turnovers, sacks, etc and we also give up some big ones, been that way for 7 years so it will always swing people emotionally. Now you add to that a freshman qb who will look like Aaron Rodgers one minute and Mr. Rogers the next people will be all over the map. Then add to that Tim Lester who people are so ready to jump on one side or the other, it's crazy for sure. I think Lester has been pretty good, a bit conservative but that's OK. My biggest issue is the lack of real difference makers at WR, other than Ish. Hurts to lose Phillips but show goes on.

I will say this Moore is a very very big target

My advice is not to follow the game thread if things aren't going well. If I didn't have to be a hall monitor during the games I wouldn't read it. If you must there is an ignore feature if any of the posters cause your blood pressure to elevate. ;)

I wholeheartedly disagree. The emotional swings on display in the game threads are gold. Reading them after the fact is always satisfying. And often hilarious.
