rtk the city is a dump but not the airport,I can assure you. The NJ airport has one of the best access egress roadway systems in the country. I've used them hundreds of times and the airport itself is modern and well laid out for travelers.

The Newark airport sucks in terms of getting travelers in and out of their efficiently. I've been there twice and had horrible experiences both times.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the Airport is not what made him miss his flight.

Hopefully the big addition/renovation that is going on now will fix some issues though.
