I got an email from NYCFootball.com that says "NYCFootball.com has learned through solid sources that Ebenezer Ogundeko has decided to become a Florida Gator."

BREAKING NEWS! Ebenezer Ogundeko A Florida Gator!!!

NYCFootball.com sources have confirmed that Thomas Jefferson DE, Ebenezer Ogundeko will become a Florida Gator. Ogundeko was recruited by just about every major D1 football program and he recently narrowed the field down to Syracuse, Florida and Clemson. Ogundeko joins former Curtis HS player, Dominique Easley in Florida. No official announcement has been made but the NYCFootball.com sources are solid and Ogundeko will be headed to Florida in the next few days. Watch Ogundeko Highlights

I don't want to sound pessimistic, but reading between the lines here, I think that Florida said they had limited scholarships, so either he committed or they pulled. Ogundeko then silently committed so he could still have his moment as UA game. Told media (rivals) Florida was out, to throw people off but someone behind the scenes at NYC Football knows the real story.

This is just a guess. I have no inside info.

I hope this is no what happened but to me, this seems sorta logical. Call me crazy.

you could be right my friend. The only problem is I dont think Ebo the kind of kid who will deliberately trick everyone and disprespect the coaches at SU and Clemson. He's announcing on national TV. He really would be setting himself up if he was to do that. Just a thought

What would lead you to believe this? Some twitter postings, a youtube highlight tape and a NYC Gridiron video? Fact is none of us know these kids beyond a highlight tape recorded from the back row of their HS stadium.

Maybe he goes to Florida...maybe he goes to Clemson...maybe he goes to Syracuse. Who knows.

I've always felt that if he wanted to come to Syracuse, he would've made it known by now. (a-la Zach Allen) While SU was always considered, we were always plan B...or C.

All I can do is wish the kid well wherever he goes.

Maybe NYCFootball knows the same anonymous sources that predicted Jabari Parker going to Michigan State.

Is Clemson looking at EO for D or O, especially as they already have 3 OLB commits? Just saw where Clemson has hired a new DB coach, Reed from NC State. Coaching changes don't always bode well for recruitment.

He's not going to Florida. He was a silent verbal there but there wasn't enough room at the inn and when higher priority guys committed he lost his spot. NYCFootball needs new sources.
Again, what is a silent verbal? If he wanted to go to Florida, why didn't he just verbal to secure his spot and be done with it? Or was his offer conditional on Florida not getting the higher priority guys?

If I put myself into a player like EO I say to Florida..."Look, I'd like to go here but I want to know if you're going to keep adding players at my position and am I a high priority?". You keep it quiet so you can continue to look but and if they don't commit to you, you still have the option to continue looking and people don't go ballistic if you change your mind. I have no problem with it and as cuselegacy said what if there are coaching changes? So far...knock on wood, we've been ok with our coaches staying

My understanding of the situation is that he had a conditional offer. He took it, but had to remain silent because it wasn't a commitable offer. When they got the guys they wanted, he lost his offer.

He plays on offense?

Thanks for the clarification. It must be nice to be one of the big boys. Many SU fans would give their first born for an EO commitment. The big boys can simply say thanks but no thanks to potential talent like this.

I know nothing about FB recruiting but thought it was odd that Hobby was visiting EO rather than the OL coach. So my question as to what Clemson might be thinking.

Not sure I understand ur post CL...Marion Hobby is Clemson's DL coach...Clemson is looking at EO as a Hybrid DE/LB. They call it their Jack position.

Here's a post from a South Carolina recruiting guy a few weeks ago..Obviously this was Pre-visit to SU!!!

Swinney visits with Ogundeko

By Phil Kornblut- 12/3/12
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney visited Monday night with DE Ebenezer Ogundego of Brooklyn for about two hours. "It went good," Ogundego said. "We just talked about regular stuff and how he wants me at Clemson. He talked to my mom. It was pretty good. I like Coach Swinney a lot. He talked about what relates to me. We talked about me playing the Jack position. That appeals to me." Ogundego played mostly defensive end in high school but can also stand up and play outside linebacker. Florida coach Will Muschamp will visit him next week. Right now Ogundego is focused on Clemson and Florida though he will visit Syracuse this weekend. There is not favorite. He plans to announce December 21st if he can. If he hasn't reached a decision by then, he'll announce at the Under Armour game.

Nothing matters with this kid until he's signed and sent his letter. My guess is the transfer rumors start 20 minutes after that.

My confusion from seeing him listed on all the sites as an OLB recruit.

Your confusion is minimal compared to whats going inside this kid's mind. I speak from experience. I offer 2000+ posts as evidence and verification.

Actually, (per one of the NYC Gridiron videos) EO did play some ironman 2-way football during their playoff loss...
I'm not against it but I think that #44 should be able to clear the LOS and go all the way for 6. I love Jerome and think he is one of the best we have ever had in the backfield in recent years He will get more yards next year behind an improved O-line. How about #39. The Zonk should be honored.

44 pride. Just a thought means what Im thinking not what I know. I'm one of the few people on here that actually do work with some of the players you talk about on this site. I've actually had meaniful conversations with him. But that doesnt mean I know what he doing in the privacy of his home. I just know that he doesnt seem like the type to make a coach or program look bad. He would have told SU along time ago that he wasnt ever considering them.
