Ohio coach Frank Solich retires

That's too bad it's because of health but I am not shocked that was the reason with the mid-summer timing. Hopefully things turn out ok for Coach Solich. Congrats on a great career.

Ohio from 1962-2004 played in exactly two bowl games. Solich was hired in 2005, and they have played in 11 bowl games during his tenure.

Obviously, there are way more bowl games and opportunities for Ohio to make one than there were back in the day, but he's undeniably a great coach.

He also had many seasons at Nebraska that that fanbase would kill for now. He was fired after a 9-3 Top 20 finish. They will probably build a statue of Scott Frost at this point if he does that.

If Scott Frost has another year like last year, he's out, but, yeah, I get your point. lol

i can already hear the Maryland excuses again…….
I have been watching SU football since the mid 80s, so I have seen some pretty embarrassing losses(too many to mention with GROB, lots under PP his last few years, 2013 vs G Tech etc) but Maryland 2019 is to me the worst loss we have had, because of how badly we lost to a crap team and what the stakes were in that game.

That game was so disappointing on so many levels and I completely agree, given the opportunities ahead with a win, was one of the worst losses ever. A three win MD team with a new coach and QB. horrible loss and it wasn't close.

I’m not expecting anything different from them. Frank’s culture he established will show on the field game 1. Offensive coor was groomed already. Just stop the Tuggle kid and we will be fine.
I never ever have the feeling we will be fine. Our recent pedigree always has me worried. I will be estatic with a win, a 1-point squeaker will do.

Great coach and hope he gets better soon.
I'm not sure what it is this year but I have no worries for game 1 and normal years I have a long list of concerns. Might just be my way of saying, whatever happens, happens, and being less invested like in past years...

I hear you. I’m just saying if you stop the Tuggle kid from going off. Big chance we win. He was a big chunk of their offense in the few games they played last year.

Im on my way with the trash king to Ohio:) 80 is the new 50!
Hey IB how about P and George on the staff. Actually if we added swag and a couple of good recruiters we might just have a program
