Oklahoma QB to transfer for 5th year

I have this feeling like maybe an Oklahoma transfer would be wary of this ...

Um, this is not the same as our recent Okie transfer. This kid graduated in 3 years, and still has 2 years left to play. He's only a Junior (redshirt Sophomore).

It's still pretty funny-What are the chances?

Yeah it REALLY sounds like we won't have an extra scholarship laying around this year and certainly not for 2 years.

Perhaps kids will start to learn the tactics of football factories that promise the world and over recruit each year when making their initial college selections? Scouting report on him sounds like he was better suited for wr or safety so perhaps he's not open to the move or their are other reasons OU is willing to let him walk?

with him securing his degree, pretty sure he doesn't need to get a release from the school.

Right but If he is positioned to be an important player for them I doubt they let him walk. He'd become a grad student with a cushy job at a Norman car dealership that he didn't have to show up for.

Sounds like he and his dad feel he was screwed over so I doubt that a no-show job would satisfy them. I bet the dad was talking and complaining enough that Oklahoma might be glad to get rid of them. Whoever gets this kid better do its due diligence on the dad too and be sure this young man actually has the ability to be a difference maker. He's certainly a more attractive transfer candidate with 2 years left but could derail a program's 'recruiting.

We're in a unique position where recruiting is almost going too well. We're going to run out of available scholies before we run out of talented players wanting to fill them. I doubt he'd be interested in SU but it would be a non starter from our end as well.

I agree and have always said that I'd steer my kid somewhere he'd have a clearer shot at exposure/playing time. There was a year that Tim Rattay and Giomanni Carmozzi were drafted relatively early and I thought "what the are the three top qb recruits doing choosing notre dame together? Go PLAY for 3-4 years and put up numbers!" If we really think about it, though, we do the exact same thing at our level. Guys who come in as our B/C-listers should perhaps go to Toledo, Delaware or UConn because they may be in for a tougher fight to see the field here.

Paging Ishaq Williams. At least he plays. A little. And gets hurt. A lot.

Actually the small schools have a good track record of putting good-great QB's in the NFL. Back to antiquity, Jack Kemp , Occidental; Jim Hart, Augustana,; Bradshaw, Louisiana Tech; Phil Simms Morehead St, ;Roethlisberger; McNair. If they can get past the "OMG Oklahoma wants ME??", then the small schools make sense .
