Lets start with the D.. I am not sure if our D staff was waiting for conference play or not to be more aggressive but what an amazingly called game by Erob today. Even if not, You have to recognize they have made adjustments from game 2 until now. Reese/Tremble have added some speed and quickness to our rush and its making a huge difference..NOW even our LB's can get some pressure on the blitz and its largely due the pressure those 2 are putting on the Oline.
Oline has played its best Ball against the top 2 teams on the schedule and those two teams have top 5/10 Dlines in the country. I believe they can create enough holes against the top teams in the country. Pass protect is a little rough at times but as long as we are on time with our throws, I think it will be good enough. Ricky will need to play well and get the ball out on time.
I thought we could get to 6 W's.. after such a dominating performance against top talent, I think we can get to 7 or 8 as long as Ricky plays well. No matter what our final record is this year. I feel REALLY REALLY good about our talent in most areas of the team. Fran and staff are showing out Boys.. and it feels really good to be an SU fan in the current Era. LETS GO!

The quality and depth of P4 level dudes Fran already has on the roster given what we lost from last year is insane. I honestly didn't think even this level was something that could happen at Syracuse and it's only year two with Fran. We honestly aren't that far from running with the teams at the top of the conference. This is fun.

Both lines improved tremble is going to be a really good edge rusher he gets pressure every snap. Rickie has the talent just need to make quick reads and use his legs when he needs too.
Tremble is going to be a monster. I didn't expect his breakthrough to be on the D side after the recruiting process but man, he just has a feel for the game and will only get better.

I posted the same after the Tennessee game… for the first time since peak Coach P era we are not at an athletic disadvantage to the powers of college football. We don’t need to play any gimmicky nonsense to hang and beat the big boys. But we do need solid scheme, good coaching and execution. Unfortunately Tennessee was too soon for the good coaching and execution to kick in… I also think Robinson realized his scheme wasn’t going to work against elite talent and switched it up yesterday.

Let’s hope Angel’s injury doesn’t force a huge scheme change on offense.

Darrell Smith, Keith Bulluck, Tebucky Jones I’m pretty sure were all high school RBs as well.
I didn't realize Bulluck had been a RB in high school. He was a safety here before P moved him to LB

NASHVILLE, Tenn. --** Earlier this week, Titans linebacker Keith Bulluck was recognized at his former high school, Clarkstown North in New City, N.Y. for his contributions made both on and off the field. The school retired Bulluck's No. 1 jersey after a storied career that saw him excel at safety and linebacker on defense and at running back, wide receiver and quarterback on offense.

Watching it struck me that take away hype of Clemson guys we had the better QB, RBs, WRs and DBs. Dominant skill people

Sounds like he needed to play more positions. Hey Keith, why not handle kicking too?

Trevion Mack returning changed the OL. Guy is fantastic and will be drafted in the future.

Interesting [to me] story about Mack. He was a guy we flipped on signing day, from Northern Illinois. So one of those guys who sends his LOI in and gets reported by the SUAD, but was not on the radar -- for those who follow SU football recruiting.

I paid attention because he was from Minneapolis area, where I live. And after doing some quick research, I almost immediately wrote him off. Because if the guy was a decent prospect, why wouldn't he even get a sniff from the hometown Minnesota Gophers? And at his size [6-5 or 6-6 and 330] I figured he was just big and slow.

Later that spring, he set a state record in one of the track and field strength events, discus I believe -- and they had a picture of him in the sports page. I was shocked to see that he looked svelte -- he was in a gray t-shirt, and didn't look fat -- at all. He looked lanky, with a big chest and zero gut. The only other OL I've ever seen like that was Matthew Bergeron.

So then I started paying attention to him a little bit more. After a redshirt year, I was intrigued when he started popping up on the 2-deep last year around midseason, as a LT. Even though we had all of those transfers and higher profile OL.

Then he earned a "starting" role in spring practice. And like many others, I wondered if any of the incoming OL portal guys would inevitably relegate him to the bench.

In preseason camp, I paid close attention as the coaches seemed to use every conceivable combination of OL to try to identify the best 5 guys. And Mack again seemed to solidify his hold on LT.

Heading into the game againt Tennessee, I was worried that this low-rated recruit I'd paid attention to a bit over the years would be going up against 4- and 5-star blue chip defensive line players from a team that went to the College playoffs last year. What if I was overrating him? What if my "Bergeron" comparison based upon that surprising photo was just wishful thinking? But Mack held his own.

And the team really missed him when he was out -- none of the other guys seem to have the attributes needed to play LT and protect the QB's blind side, other than Mack [maybe Hawn eventually will].

There is only one Bergeron. Guy was a physical freak, a 2nd round pick, and a starting LT in the NFL. But this guy is cut from the same cloth. Same type of bizarre physique and athleticism, for such a "heavy" guy. Same unusual lateral mobility for a player so large. Hope he has a similar career trajectory.

But most of all, we're lucky to have him.

Great post. He has great quickness and is excellent with his hands. Solid footwork too. All the things that get an OL to the next level. You noticed a severe drop off with Bertrand when he came in for a drive or two to spell Mack.
