Class of 2015 OLB Shyheim (Shy) Cullen (MA) Signed LOI

Of course you can barely call these days school. Yesterday he had a final in a class. They went to this small restaurant down the street... They make this famous breakfast sandwich called a boot mill... If you ate your sandwich you got 100 if you didn't you get a 90

Seriously? thats... I don't even know what to say to that. Was it a culinary arts class?

If only I knew of Massachusetts academic prowess years ago... my stomach could've gotten me to the uni of chicago or BC

I have held off on watching film (the better film links are a couple of posts below) because I don't like getting all fired up about recruit X until I know for sure there is a good possiblitty the recruit is going to attend SU.

This kid was born to play in the SU defensive scheme. Blitzes really well. His closing speed is terrific and he hits like an angry truck.

I vote him the most likely recruit to decapitate an opposing player.
Funny i usually refrain from talking about the hard hitting desire to inflict pain... Mostly cause my wife says that's not sportsman like. But every year I sit down with my kids and explain to them my game plan id like to see them follow. I have spoken before about telling shy to pick his target first play offense or defense. But I haven't mentioned before I like to explain to shy that if you are going at the quarter back... First couple plays of the game... Maybe a personal foul for rough the passer isn't the worst thing... He has never gotten the penalty that I can think of but he had gotten there maybe a step or two late and put the quarter back down a few times . Strange after that the qb doesn't look so comfortable with shy coming up either blitzing or faking the blitz.

This is the 1st page out of Shafer's book. Sounds like a match.

As much as any of us would like to say this may've been unsportsman like.

I'll be the first to say I would've loved to have seen that happen to PSU's freshman QB, Tajh Boyd, or Jameis.

It's very, very underrated how a solid hit on the QB can change the entire game for the entire offense. For example, Brady vs. the New York Giants.

Somthing else few know about shy. Shy has only really played 3 years of football. He played 1 pop warner as a d end. He broke his knee in eight grade driving into a pool( don't get me started on thAt) so he missed that year. Freshman year he played varsity football but go very little time and most of what he did he played running back. Sophomore year was his first real time at linebacker and his coach uses him for run stop and blitzing. Junior year he called the defense from middle and played 50 percent of offensive snaps at rb. I had one coach tell me that he wasn't good in coverage... And as of rivals he was having a tough time and it dawned on me he has never had to. But he went to rivals ... Miami.. And just finished up last week at hspd. Id say he had improved 1000 percent. He has only allowed 2 catches in the last 8 days of camps. Coaches always tell me he is very coach able. And last night hspd called to name him to the regional team for 7 on 7s because of his great coverage and play on offense. Unfortunately shy had to tell them no as it starts this weekend and we will be attending syracuse camp. Would have been good for national exposure but what can you do

From cut blocking lineman to kids diving at knees while shy is being held up by three other players. I'd say football has a lot of questionable stuff the casual watcher doesn't see. Letting a quarter back know I'm gonna hit you all day long goes along way during a game. He isn't put to take anyone out of the game... Just make them think he is

As far as how malicious cut blocking and knee diving is, I think letting the QB know whose house it is is just part of the game.

What does a happy truck hit like?

Well that didn't work... I had a picture of the guy getting hit by the truck in the movie maximum overdrive

Ah but is the truck happy? Enquiring minds want to know ...

10 hours till we leave for syracuse. I have seen people asking about shy on other threads and don't want to post about shy on other kids stuff. So I will post an answer here. After a 30 min phone call last night with the coach... The staff seems to have shy pretty high on the want list. I'm sure Barry committing and a couple other kids getting attention down south has helped that but what ever the case is they seem pretty excited shy ... That could be an act but who knows I'm sure every kid gets that feeling when they talk to them. Shy is very excited about the visit this weekend. He was named to hspd national 7 on 7 team and told them he couldn't play because he was visiting syracuse this week end. Hopefully the visit goes well and shy likes everything.

I am still hoping for a "BOOM" from Coach GM after his visit.

Here I'll give you a funny one. This is shy in the middle wearing his pink cleats. It's a terrible video because I couldn't post it any other way. But this was the last game of sophomore year. The seniors all told shy to go out and sack the quarter back on this play and told him they wanted to see him do a dance after he did... This is the result
