they will be down at least 2 starters on D for targeting and possibly one more hurt.. In addition the stud RB got dinged and didnt play the 2nd half. we could be down 2-3 starters on offense too and not sure on D if we are down a man there

we had a few drives with tempo today.. i think it really needs the running game working so you can mix it up.. always needing 3rd down plays slows us down

It's going to be a nasty week in Baton Rogue after the beating they took yesterday.

Best thing would be to jump out to a couple of scores early and hope their sideline implodes.

I'm torn between statement win (think 27-23 Cuse)

Or welcome back to reality (think 34-17 Tigers)

I don't see them scoring 30+

if LSU blows coverages like they did last night we got a shot.. i dont expect the LSU D to play that poorly at home though

That's all you got? ;) What do you really think of LSU and our chances?
Lol, this is the way I'm trying to look at it:

1) Who's the real Syracuse? TBD IMO.
2) Who's the real LSU? Still some TBD IMO.

I am going to try to watch the game with no real expectations... Very difficult as a die hard.

We're going to find out a lot more about ourselves vs bigger and stronger competition. We've been the biggest and most athletic team in all 3 tilts this far... How will we respond when we're not?

If we win, or compete at a very high level, I think it will tell us a lot about our team. And conversely, something about LSU as well.

If we lose, and are significantly beat physically, I think it will tell us a lot about our team. As well as what you might expect from LSU in Death Valley.

I think the term is GUARDED OPTIMISM. I believe we'll score. I don't know what LSU will do. And I'm very interested to see how Ward responds to what he knows of Canada.

If LSU puts up 60-70, I think I'll know what I need to know of Ward. If we fight back and compete with a better game plan, I'll have a better idea of where the D is headed. It's a chess match between those two imo.

it really comes down to the D and big plays.. the D has played large stretches so far of solid D. A couple drives the last 2 games they were out of sorts and a couple big plays.. thats more than acceptable in this day of offense.

how in the world did we gain 333 yds in a quarter and only score 17 pts..

Agree Cusian. I read or heard somewhere that LSU's home record is something like 20-1 the last five years? Only loss coming to Bama. Beating them there would be a miracle. Of course, by Saturday I'll be expecting a miracle.

LSU Has Fifth-Longest Non-Conference Home Winning Streak Of All-Time
- With 48 consecutive wins over non-conference opponents at home in Tiger Stadium, the LSU football team can lay claim to having the longest among current teams and the fifth-longest ever in college football.
- The last loss at home to a non-SEC opponent came in 2000 against UAB, but since 2001 LSU has gone unblemished when playing in front of their home fans. The only other team to have a longer streak in the modern era was Miami from 1985-94 with 48, putting LSU within striking distance just two away.
- Here's a look at the longest non-conference home winning streaks:
Team Years Non-Conference Home Win Streak
1. Harvard 1890-1895 55
2. Carlisle 1901-1915 54
3. Yale 1886-1895 50
4. Wisconsin 1897-1909 50
5. LSU 2001-Present 48
Miami (FL) 1985-1994 48

we went down to Auburn not that long ago and really should have won that game. this is about the same , but we need another level we havent seen yet.

Only 48 in a row? Pshaw. What happened when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

I think we will surprise some folks. I'm not saying we will win but players normally get hyped up when playing in these games. Riley is a real weapon for our team. We shall see

OL
OL
OL
That will determine the margin of the beatdown.

They will run on our D. The D is improved but LSU has NFL bodies across the board. They will run on us.
If our OL can get any push it will allow the game to be close for a while.

I just want to avoid another national tv embarrassment... one thing the 21st century has given me regarding Syracuse football is a total fear of any nationally televised game. I think we have been outscored 1000 to 100 in those games.

Does beating VT last year on ESPNu count?

Sure but it was the exception not the rule... weren't FSU and Clemson pretty heavily televised? We have had one every couple of seasons in higher profile games but most have been epic beat downs where the game was effectively over before halftime.

You just cited FSU and Clemson as your evidence?

I would argue NOT getting blown out by those two teams would be the exception and not the rule for 90% of D1 teams (regardless of TV coverage)
