One Coach Name I like

When healthy he’s our best player. He shouldn’t have to be though. The rest of the guys around him are worse.

Donnie should play a high-low game with Eddie on the low block. Donnie can hit the foul line or elbow jumper, and he can literally jump over most of his defenders. He should do that until they stop him. And once in a while, dive to the rim so Eddie can feed you on the cut, like Arinze used to do with Rick.

That's what I would be asking him to do. Then, when they cheat inside and double team you to stop you, THEN you step outside to try an uncontested three. Taking a 3 shouldn't be nearly 1/3 of his overall FG attempts. It's giving away his physical advantage.

He has had plenty of time to prove that he has no idea how to construct, manage, or develop a roster, not to mention the horror show in-game decision-making. It blows my mind that anyone can look at the program at this point and not see what has happened. Some of ya'll are just too close to it.

You're living in the past. A rebuild with a competent coach can happen in Year 1. To see a decline in Year 2 is termination-worthy for any serious program.
Yes it can IF the money is behind the decision. If the new coach doesn't have the full support of the boosters it will be impossible for them to succeed. There was a tremendous amount of work done behind the scenes to ensure that Fran was going to have the support he felt that he needed to be successful.
As a second example go back to Gmac being hired. Remember how it took longer for the Official announcement. Guess what? That was because G wasn't going to coach there unless he was assured he would receive adequate booster support.
So don't be naive and think it's a simple process to replace a legend and change out coaches every two years. It doesn't happen like and Syracuse doesn't have the resources to play the revolving coach game.
What SU needs way more than a new coach is money. Specifically NIL money. Maybe Melo, maybe Adam can get behind the program and help bring in some talent. Maybe our new GM can help identify the right players to spend that money on and just maybe with some talent Red will magically become a solid coach. Who knows. But what I do know is that unless JW has the boosters behind him it won't matter who coaches the team.

completely disagree with your stance. The coach is responsible for all aspects of the program. This includes roster construction, team fit, getting your team to play hard, disciplined, coming out ready every game. This includes being fundamentally sound and the ability to make adjustments to outscheme the opponent. Autry consistently comes up short in all these areas. Trying to just blame it on NIL is a major cop out. Every coach has to work through these things. Some schools have more NIL and some have less.

I look at the top 25 and I see 4 first year coaches. Michigan, West Virginia, Louisville and Kentucky.

I see a couple 2nd year coaches
St . John’s and Ole Miss.

I see teams like Iowa State, Houston, Marquette, Wisconsin, Missouri, Miss State, Ole Miss, Vandy, Utah State. West Virginia

There are some schools on this list with better funding and some with less. What those schools all seem to have is competent head coaches that give them an advantage vs a disadvantage.
Name the ones with less.

the other leverage JB used is when he did sit someone down, that someone sat next to him and got a long winding a$$ chewing. In additional can make player do extra drills at practices.
Like Kadary? Your wrong. In today's environment they would tell Jim to
FO and transfer.

Louisville: New HC - proven mid-major winner, tourney bound
WVU: New HC - proven mid-major winner, tourney bound
Vanderbilt: New HC - proven mid-major winner, tourney bound

Hire winners, at any level. This doesn't have to be complicated.
You can add Michigan to that list as well.

Donnie ain't coming back.

If SU can't compete with Iowa State, Houston, Marquette, Wisconsin, Missouri, Miss State, Ole Miss, Vandy, Utah State. West Virginia then just fold up the program and focus on playing LeMoyne, Colgate, Siena, and Cornell.

Using Coach Fran as an example, who do we see on the basketball side having his same connectivity to the community, fire and passion, and ability to really connect with young athletes. I see Devo having similar qualities as coach Fran
LOL

I don't necessarily buy that because imo most successful coaches are probably tough coaches.

JB definitely had his fair share of transfers over the years in the old environment. But one thing that I think makes coaches successful is the ability to get players to buy in and therefore will play hard for you. you can still be a tough hard ass coach in today's environment as long as you have a good culture and your kids buy in and believe in you.

May be, but that means the coaches signed the wrong guys. You could have all 5* recruits but if they are not coachable and don't play defense, talk back to the coaches, miss practices than the coaches haven't evaluated the kids well enough for fit.

Yeah, this is pretty much why I wanted a real coaching search involving multiple candidates with meaningful credentials.

Interesting timing - I just saw Adam Weitsman post on Linked In, I think it was, about supporting the program, but maybe not being so "out there" about it. Kind of hinted at him wanting to be involved again. The picture had Tom Brady, Jimmy Fallon and another celeb sitting courtside next to Adam. So, I guess "watch this space".

Well, if that's the case, he's not going to wind up at Duke. He's in for a surprise.

And that's fine. Where do those guys go, if they don't get playing time and don't put up numbers?
Who is going to give them a big bag?

Just look at Fran. Definitely a tough, hard ass coach.

And people were busting my balls for saying pretty much the same thing recently, that we need that for hoops. Red needs to be tougher and more demanding of the players. There need to be consequences if they don't try on defense, or make the same careless mistakes on offense.
