One of the worst parts about being bad is

I have no desire to watch other games.
I don't think I've watched more than 5 minutes of any game this year, not including Syracuse games. It's disappointing because it used to be a passion. The toughest change for me is not knowing who anyone is (or where they're playing) entering each year.

Nil and absurd transfers and big schools automatically using smaller schools to poach there best players for a new starting 5 every year has ruined the college game. Good job

Instant NBA readiness also helped kill it for me. Nothing you can do about that one, just is as it is. But think back to knowing, say, Pearl, DC, Owens, etc would all be here at least 3 years and maybe 4. Same with the villains, Ewing, Mourning, etc. That's what started it for me.

And the things you mentioned just made it so much worse.

Plenty of people still love it, which is good for the sport. I watched the last 4 minutes of Kentucky-Tennessee. Since I had watched our game, I figured I should go all in and at least watch something else. It was cool to see a raucous crowd after watching us play in front of dozens. If your team is good, it's easy to stay engaged.

I’ve been able to spend more time with my family. I gave up on trying to convince my kids that college hoops was on strike to avoid telling them how embarrassing this is.
Gee whiz you survived the GROB Football era, you will get through this.

I started watching alot again last year, no clue why. I watch a ton of B10 and Big East...then the Big 12, and maybe the SEC or ACC are pulling up in last. I hate the SEC schools, so I struggle with those, and the ACC sucks so I avoid them. lol

I must have at least 10 moments of, "dear God we look pitiful compared to these teams..." each game though...usually due to effort, but sometimes talent, sometimes offensive sets, sometimes the atmosphere, etc...

It's pretty sad actually! But, a lot of good basketball out there still imo! :)

I have no desire to watch other games.
You're right.
Watching far fewer games.
And when I do it's generally Duke and Auburn and SJU and occasional other good matchups.
To see some good ball.
And I've leaned that there's this thing called defense that these teams play.

I don’t watch any games as I cancelled my slingTV after football season. I saw enough up till January to think I’m not missing anything. Now I’m in season 4 of Lost on Netflix. Still good but it’s slowing down a little.

Big East games are entertaining on an occasional basis. I can’t get excited about the SEC or even the ACC.

Acceptance.

Acceptance that if it's on it most likely will be on a channel I have never watched anything on.

Acceptance that it will be on a secondary time slot after games they heavily promote.

Acceptance that we are the cup cakes we used to play in November.

College basketball is a complete mess right now. Top coaches have been retiring in droves because NIL and the transfer portal have turned building a program into a near impossibility. Who wants to rebuild their team from scratch every year, except maybe Rick Pitino, because top players flee for the draft, unhappy recruits hit the transfer portal, and players who are top quality, but maybe not NBA quality, put themselves up for NIL auction every season . . . it's like coaching in a washing machine set to max spin cycle.

And as far as the NBA, that too is in trouble. Viewership is WAY down. Most games have become a three point shooting competition. Forget the intricacies of the game, saber-metrics demand players launch as many threes as possible. It has become so bad that the NBA has had to resort to things like a mid-season mini-tourney to try and jackup interest. Everyone knows players are doing load management and just trying to get by until the real season . . . THE PLAYOFFS.

Baseball faced the same kind of existential problems and have made some dramatic changes over the past couple of seasons to address their problems. Basketball is going to have to do the same thing . . . because right now the game seems to be going down the toilet.

Feel like the woman in Major League when she is introduced to Jake Taylor and what he does.

"Here in Syracuse? I didn't even know they still had a team!"
