Actually there are two that come to mind, but let's forget about Nassib's really bad interception at the Rutger's goal line and move on.

In the same game Phillip Thomas dropped a sure "pick 6" deep in Rutger's territory. If he completes that play, we win and move to a 4-2 record.

I honestly believe that loss took quite a bit out of the team mentally. You never know, but if we win that game I think it may have led to 1 or 2 more victories over the course of the schedule.

Edit: I should have stated that with the WVU win we would have been 6-2 and bowl eligible.

The inability to move the ball at Yukon (either running or passing) was the turning point. That was my "OH " moment for this team.

Meh, we crushed WVU after that Rutgers debacle.

We blew the season in the first half in East Hartford. Should have been up 3 scores at halftime.

I don't disagree, but I can't get Thomas' drop out of my mind.

I go back and forth with the rutgers game and the Uconn game. But even though we followed it up with the WVU win, I think the rutgers game. But there are far too many plays to pick just 1 or 2. Both you mention were big as well as the decision to kick inside the 1. But also, the INT, I don't consider it a "Nassib really bad INT". That was a bad play call to run to a true frosh plus the pass hit him and bounced off for the INT.

That seems like a reasonable pick, if you had to pick one play, primarily because of the bowl eligibility thing. Bailey's fumble in OT would be the play for me in that context. As for the psychological impact...doesn't really seem to fit given the way the team played 2 games after Rutgers.

Looking at the season as whole, the WVU game looked like the anomaly. Wake was a good win. The rest of the season was enigmatic of a poor football team. So maybe the plays in the Rutgers game were more of an omen than turning point...

my two would be the pick at the goal line against rutgers and not coming up with the fumble at midfield against uconn. when that ball hit the ground I thought, whoever gets that ball wins this game. UConn got the ball.

Thomas made a mistake dropping that interception. I can forgive mistakes made by players.

I cannot forgive a mentality that makes a choice that it is better to kick on the goal line.

Indeed a huge moment. SU wins that game they go to 4-1, then 5-1 after the Tulane victory and 6-1 after laying the hammer to WVA.

Our defense was lights out that game.

How bout choosing not to play AAM that game but then burning his RS later in the year? A ton of oppurtunities to use him that game and we didn't.

Kicking on the goal line didn't fumble away that game though. If Bailey doesn't put it on the turf again, we probably go in and score to win in OT. May have seen us not kick if we got in that situation again there.

Of course if we dont miss that XP early or those FGs then the Bailey fumble wouldnt have happened, Marrone taking the 3 looks smart, etc, etc.

I hate having to remember this game, I had suppressed that memory until now.

Yeah...Hindsight being 20/20, burning up AAM's red-shirt this year was a foolish move.

This is where we'll disagree. The play of the defense is irrelevant to me. Marrone taking 3 would never look smart to me.

When you are on the goal line you put it in or die trying, UNLESS the kick wins the game in that moment.

We don't really disagree at all. That all happened right in front of the endzone I was seated in. I was up there screaming to go for it. I was also wondering "Why not run the 240 lb rb?". The fact that our kicking unit sucked that game compounded the fact of "why not go for it?". I do get the logic of 3 vs going for it based on how the defense is playing though.

Sadly Baileys 1st carry fumble, the end zone pick (also wondering why not run the 240lb RB this time), and Thomas pick 6 drop also happened right in front of me as well.

Luckily Bailey's fumble to end the game was at the other end of the feild or I may have jumped from the upper level. (kidding... I think) Any 1 play breaks the other way and we win. Sadly they didn't.

Coach's decision to take the 3 pts vs Rutgers in first OT -- really sent a message about his confidence in his OL. Couldn't get 1 ft running behind guys he brought in?

The inability to move the ball at Yukon (either running or passing) was the turning point. That was my "OH " moment for this team.
By the same token, the inability for the D to stop that horrible Uconn offense just one time in the second half. Just one stop and I think we win that game. We just couldn't get them off the field.

Not catching the kickoff against Pitt. Team still had a chance for a bowl and two minutes in game was over. Pitt was not a better team than Syracuse. It seemed like there were a few players who had no interest in keeping the season going and that was terribly depressing.

not going for it against Rutgers defined the season and a lack of confidence in the O

Ten penalties & six turnovers against Pitt in a must win game tells me all I need to know about team leaders, there were none. That was the most embarrasing performance by a Doug Marrone coached team so far.

But getting back to one big play, for me it was Bailey's fumble vs Rutgers.

My "OH " moment was when SU had to go to the last minute to ensure a win over a very truly Awful Tulane team. I was in denial at that point, but I should have realized at that point that the only thing to look forward to was basketball season.
