Orange Alumni Classic Set for Sept. 24

Not very promising, but don't know how much to take from this. Do we know if Ben played?

I wonder how much chemistry there was on field?

Though it is good to hear voigt and Trimbo get goals. And to hear that Solomon carry on from his previous play.

And obviously the classic team has some sure fire talent, staats, barber, and palasek. And they know these players well, so they have some inside knowledge.

Ok so the alumni scrimmage is over? First time su has lost in a while. Not a great sign
Not sure if Ben played. Mellen was obviously out

This was a bit telling.

Wonder how much time Mariano and SS got, I would've expects some points out of them.

Wonder is Romano played..

I have learned never to take away anything from these games.

Well, except for Mellen not playing. Is he hurt? ;)

The alumni game was only 3 quarters, Mariano and Salcido played all 3 quarters. The team then played an intra squad scrimmage for 25 mins running time. Young frosh went down with an unfortunate leg injury, hope he is doing well.

Williams played the first quarter and a half. Bomberry didn't see the field till the intra squad scrimmage, which leads to wonder why? Will be more telling if he sits the tri scrimmage in Philly. Evans, Romano and Shewell didn't play.

Pieced together from articles/Twitter updates:

Mellen, Paduda (both should be ready for Spring per JD)

Evans, Shewell (both should be ready by next week per JD)

Schwasnick, Romano (identified by reporters as "injured", no further details)

Attack: Solomon, Thorpe, Voigt
(Rehfuss & Grass also got run)

Mids:
1st: Mariano, Salcido, Lane
2nd: Weston, Simmons, Carlin
3rd: McKinney, O'Sullivan, Trimboli

SSDM: Ciferri, Gillis
(Desko said that Paduda would likely see time here)

LSM: Fusco, Swigart

Close-D: Firman, Cunningham, Helmer
(Bomberry also got run)

Goalie: Molloy, Madonna, Klan played a quarter each, in that order.

FO: Williams with Fusco & Ciferri on wings

Freshman Defender Brett Kennedy. Leg/knee & didn't put any weight on it while being helped off the field.

A few random observations

That second unit leaves a lot to be desired at midfield. Not surprised Lane started on the 1st line but I think hes likely to be on the second line once the season starts. He brings a nice veteran presence and hopefully takes that next step forward. To bad Romano is hurt had big hopes for him and Trimboli. I expect the Denver transfer to start at midfield with Mariano and Salcido. Appears clear Mariano is not moving back to attack. Voight starting at attack after playing the 4th line midfield last year is scary and not in a good way. Expect some fresh blood there by Jan/Feb, ie Grass, Rehfuss, Winauskas.

Interesting they bumped down Firman, if Mellen is healthy I don't see him playing close. Ben Williams should be held out of any games, its not worth risking an injury.
