OT - 33 Years Ago Today...

That guy who got dunked on died at the scene of the crime, right? RIP

They should be forced to play on in those situations

Yikes. I'm really old.
You ain’t kidding! I was visiting someone in a dorm & the place exploded! Awesome!
Hated Pitt back then, especially Charles Smith. Even more when he became a Knick and blocked his own layup 3X vs the Bulls. Soft as tissue paper!!

Hold my beer. (Someone could have EASILY died here)

This was a little before my time (I was 6 years old). What happened after the glass was shattered? I feel like that would take a very long time to clean up the glass and get a new basket put together.

And a NY Times article (I am sure you have a sub):

"The game was officially delayed for 32 minutes as crews scrambled to find a replacement backboard. Eventually they wheeled out an old hoop located underneath the stands. It did not have a shot clock."

“In my day we didn’t worry about fancy-schmancy time-keeping, TV timeout rules, or playing on deadly glass.
We found a peach basket, had a tall guy hold it over his head and finished the damn game! And we were thankful”!! (In my best grumpy old man voice)
