OT: Curtis Granderson

Counting down the days until we learn how the Mets manage to turn this into another fourth-place finish!

Hell ya! I like the new outfield of Young-Granderson-Lagares (Young as the 4th)

We NEED a leadoff man though, hopefully one that can play shortstop too.

Young will move to 2B & Murphy will either play first or be spun

Murphy's bat does not play at first. it hardly plays at second

considering they had players hitting about .200 at first last year Murphy is all world.. Im still waiting for the kid catcher to hit like he is supposed to.. maybe he becomes the first baseman and they find someone else to catch and then trade murphy for something.. I can live with solid catching with some power but geesh having first basemen who cant do anything is a killer every year. they always seem to find a way to get some catchers with a little Pop but Davis is killing them with strikeouts.

certainly better if he is spun

I did read somewhere that the Mets have decided to make Duda the everyday 1B . . . front office thinks if they move Davis and he is clearly given the job then he will flourish. Probably means they need to clear Murph out, too.

I can't decide how I feel about Granderson. Seems like a lot of money, though the reality of the situation in today's MLB is that it isn't really. Should be a good player. 3 years would have been better than 4.
Murphy isn't playing first for the Mets, that would really surprise me. I think they will try to trade him and roll with Young or Flores at second, and platoon either Ike or Duda at first with Satin. I think at this point they'd be looking for either a SS or a SP if they move Murph.

The mets are in a much better position than the yankees for near term success. that pitching staff in two years is going to be freaking ridiculous...they wont need to score that many runs. Ok to sacrifice some offense for defense in that park with that pitching staff.

When it comes to success and the mets I try to go with the see it to believe it methodology vs the off season hype ( not that they ever get much of that).

I didn't realize the Mets were still playing baseball in N.Y. I thought they had moved to Seattle.

I really hope they don't go with Tejada at SS.
D'Arnaud wasn't great last year, but he has a good track record, I think he'll hit. Duda/Satin at 1B should be ok, but nothing special. Laagres I don't expect much from with the bat. You can see the shape of a good team starting to come together, but they aren't there yet.

I sure hope so, but young pitchers will break your heart.

Speak for yourself.

I fully expect Paul Wilson and Bill Pulsipher to win us a pennant any year now.

Sigh, I was 10/11 or so when those guys were coming up through the minors so I didn't totally get the attrition rate with young pitchers. (By that I mean I didn't get it at all). I assumed Wilson, Pulsipher, and Izzy (don't forget him) were gonna match up with Glavine/Maddux/Smoltz for years to come

And Pete Harnisch.

I was only a couple years older and fully expected the same thing.

welcome aboard bartolo colon! good signing, he was 1 of the best starters in baseball last year.

Amazing what you can accomplish through chemistry.
