No. ESPN 3 is your best bet through an Apple TV. But you'd need a password with a cable provider.

Such a scam.

Yeah, the ACC Digital Network is basically just highlight packages, at least if the Apple TV one is the same as the Roku one.

It's the same. Just an easy way to get content from the ACC website on your TV.

The WatchESPN app is what you'll use to watch games (live or replay).
I'll be using it today to watch the Syracuse game, as my local ACC Network affiliate will be showing the GA Tech @ Pitt game.

For people in here looking to watch the SU basketball game, if you have DirecTV they're doing a free preview of Full Court Press that ends after today. Channel 722 should have the game free across the country.

I'll take WatchESPN on AppleTV over low-def Full Court any day of the week... and twice on SU game days.
Full Court is better than nothing, but it really needs to switch to HD.

Just like last game, it was reported that you'll have to watch the game online, or with the espn3 app, and then the day of the game, channel 3 nbc picked it up. It will be on regular tv today. Time warner cable channel 3 (in the cuse market), or over the air channel 3 as well.

Your opinion isn't necessarily wrong, but it is the way it is. This is true for any app. FOX, ABC, History, Bravo, etc. they all require you to put in your cable provider to access. You may already know this but it read as if you think ESPN is scamming you. That Direct TV announcement of the free espn streaming package sounds nice, and I think is a sign of what's to come. TV ala carte. Like I want channels blah blah blah, so I only pay for channels blah blah blah.

I just decided on Apple TV myself, as it made the most sense as it integrates with our devices and our iMac. Most activity on those devices can be streamed to your Apple TV. I just got it, and am not an expert yet, but that aspect is pretty cool. Plus your iTunes music, shows, and movies are available on it, so your music catalog can be played easily though your sound system of your home theater.

IMHO

Roku>>>>>Apple TV

1000+ apps versus 35 apps
One thing about all the apps that I've never figured out...is there a way to search through them? I was looking for the Showtime Anytime app and had to manually search through categories to find it. A search function would be clutch.

I've got Apple TV and the Roku because I'm an idiot and like to support the economy, in the same way I have TW and Directv. Anyway, Roku is far superior to the Apple in every measurable way except with the Apple I can Airplay to my TV, which I use to to show my bike training videos and run apps from my phone while training in the living room. It's the ONLY reason I bought Apple TV. Even though I own a ton of Apple products, like most things they make, there is another company that does the same thing but also has more intuitive features. The remote on the Roku by itself is so far superior to the Apple remote the engineers at Apple should be embarrassed.

Not to debate the roku remote, but in case you did not know there is an Apple TV remote app for your phone and iPad that is far superior to the one in the box.

I prefer the Apple TV remote and hardware. I prefer the solid feel to the lightweight plastic feel of the roku. I do like my roku, but Apple TV is my favorite because I have access to my iTunes library.
