Just watched Deron Williams score 57 including 38 in the second half in setting a new Nets scoring record. Since there was a lot going on this week with Wilt, thought I would look it up to put it in persepctive.

DWill 16 for 29 with 21-21 from FT in 37:45 minutes and 4-11 from 3
Kobe 28-46 with 18-20 from FT in 42 minutes and 7-13 from 3
Wilt 36-63 with 28-32 from FT in 48 minutes.

Kobe scored 55 in the 2nd half of his game vs Toronto and was definitely one of the most incredible things that I had ever watched. I've watched hundreds of DWill's games and this was a great game for him but nothing like Kobe.

BTW, I heard someone on the radio yesterday saying that he thought that Kobe's 81 was more impressive than Wilt's since he played 6 less minutes and took 17 less shots. The other host obviously disagreed with the 100 is 100 argument, but just watching DWill score 38 in the second made me even think that Kobe's 55 in his second half could have been the best game ever. You would have to think that most of Wilt's shots were in the paint, so Kobe scoring all over the court is pretty amazing.

also, the pace of the game was much much faster in 1962. Kobe's 81 is probably more impressive.

Kobe's 62 in 3 quarters was also pretty darn impressive

Not bad but Bernard was more impressive...

"On January 31, 1984, as a Knick, King made history by becoming the first player since 1964 to score at least 50 points in consecutive games: scoring 50 points on 20 for 23 shooting with 10 free throws in a 117-113 Knicks victory over the San Antonio Spurs on January 30, and following it up with another 50 point performance in another road victory - this time in a 105-98 win over the Dallas Mavericks - on 20 for 28 shooting and 10 free throws. The next season, on Christmas Day, 1984, King lit up the New Jersey Nets for 60 points, becoming just the tenth player in NBA history to score 60 or more points in a single game. King had scored 40 points by halftime, and finished the game with 19 of 30 shooting from the field and 22 of 26 from the free throw line."

I would agree that Kobe's 81 > Wilt's 100 personally. I wish I could have watched basketball back then though. Hell, I watch videos of Larry Bird and feel so slighted that I never got a chance to see him play (at least that I can remember). The earliest memory I really remember in my life was watching MJ and the Bulls those last two seasons against the Jazz. Kinda sad in a way that it's literally the earliest memory I have in life lol.
