Who is a fan of these daily fantasy leagues? I started last year and I loved it. I find it so much more fun than the traditional year-long fantasy leagues.

When I was at Syracuse, I did the daily basketball ones, but ended up getting pretty addicted to it and decided to stop playing; it was seriously cutting into my studying.

I might give the football a try this year at some point though. I have about $1 left in my account so I figure I can throw my hat into the ring and if I win, I can keep playing with whatever I win from that dollar lol.

I haven't tried it, I was big into the online poker back in the day and I'm afraid I would get addicted to it like I did the poker. I. Fact how they aren't the same is beyond me

It's only gambling if the house takes a cut/vig. My understanding, as I don't actually partake in those websites, are Draft Kings and Fan Duel live on advertisements and clicks per page. Think of it as an office NCAA pool on a much larger scale, none of it's gambling or illegal until the commish/bar gets paid for holding the league.

Online Poker is THE reason I do not gamble whatsoever. It was where I learned that an addictive personality exists.

Ha.. yeah it was too easy for sure. I don't bet on sports very much anymore really just horses at this point but I did love online poker

No Fanduel takes a 10% cut of all pots. They are making money hand over fist. It's insane.

When they carved out a space for fantasy sports in the law that killed online poker - they left a loophole that allows it. My understanding is that it's "as long as it's not a real team" and "you can't bet on final scores or point spreads" it's okay.

I stay away - running my own business is a gamble enough for my wife. ;)

Absolutely, I never played for a lot of money but I was on it nonstop. I used to gamble while in class at the Whitman school

I just did draft kings last night ($25)

Shall see how this week goes

Is one better than the other? Probably the only thing keeping me from trying it out is that I don't want to sign up with the Betamax of weekly fantasy football sites.

I would vote for FanDuel over DraftKings. I know Yahoo is starting one up for this year, too.

I actually believe that it is considered legal because it is considered a game of skill. Legally, it is not considered a game of luck and it is not dependent on the outcome of just one sporting event.

I like draft kings mobile interface better.

I'm not sure DraftKings really existed when I first signed up for FanDuel; if it did, it certainly didn't have the exposure that FanDuel had at the time. I've heard there's more variance in the types of leagues you can do with FanDuel as well, but I basically stick to the triple or double ones I believe the cut they take is smaller (or at least it used to be).

So this thread made me sign up for Draftkings. I'm not sure if I fully understand all the leagues, but I'll get it figured out

They need to bring on line pokeR back like it was. I used to play forty hours a week between on line and at a charity Place. I made 30 an hour and was considering quitting my job. I had 4000 on ftp when they were seized. But to answer the thread question I want shuts entering my picks on draft king

I did it for a small win last year. It was good that the DK check didn't have an expiration date because I forgot about it until last week.

Speaking of poker - I still play B&M and know regulars who are way into the daily FS. One of them asked me last yr if I did my lineups by hand. "Umm is there another way?" Guess they use algorithms, excel sheets, the whole nine. Apparently I'm not terrible at it as I had a lot of the same names a lot of times (DeAndre Hopkins was a frequent contributor last yr, always seemed to be cheap). But I imagine the big $ pools are loaded with those guys & MIT types so I'll probably just stay in the kiddie pool.

Great article on Bloomberg today about FanDuel and DraftKing with some really interesting stats:

The top 10 players combine to win an average of 873 times a day.

The remaining 20K combine to win just 13 times per day, on average.

Only the top 1.3% of players won money, ie. came out ahead, during a three month analysis by the Sport Business Journal.

Bottom Line: Have fun but it is a rigged game, not by the house, but by highly sophisticated players...

If you are on a fantasy sports website and you can't spot the sucker...
