I remember around 1990 my wife and I went to Saratoga for the races and sat two tables away from George Steinbrenner, Mary ann Mobley, Joan Rivers and Susan Lucci.
MS. Mobley was a total knockout that day and if their ever was a horse race that was fixed it was that day.
Steinbrenners horse was running in 8th and 9th place every race that year in $10,000 purses and his horse that day blew away the field in a $250,000 stakes race. He kept saying his horse was going to win and I didn't bet him. It was a total dog in the race and even the handicapers ignored him. It won at like 70-1 odds and all I remember was Steinbrenner had a stack of tickets of about two inches thick on his horse.
Susan Lucci was the talkative one in the bunch as she would politely speak to anyone that day who stopped
