Correct. Kids have a multitude of reasons for choosing schools, which is my whole point.

It's disingenuous to assume that every kid is just thinking about how much money they can get. And that stems from jealousy and biases, and is a hurtful stereotype to a lot of these kids.

I don't love the insinuation that these kids just want the money when they don't choose SU. There's plenty of reasons, and I'm sure if kids are getting close to equal offers, they would then choose a school that fits them best.

Exactly, there are a ton of kids still in the portal and more to come from playoff teams. Then there is the spring window. Fran has been very clear that he wasn’t planning on taking many portal kids this year. The roster certainly has some holes but not like when he took over and was cleaning house. Also, while there are certainly some very good players off the board, who out there who hasn’t gone to an NIL rich program is really some kind of crushing loss for us? Not Pena, we haven’t offered him yet and he didn’t want to wait, which is fine. Panic meter in this place goes off the charts way too much sometimes

I'd say money, personality conflicts and fresh starts for playing time are the major reasons

It could simply be that it becomes easier to see if a player fits your D A R T philosophy after face to face interaction? We do want players that are willing to commit to that philosophy. And it is not everyone's cup of tea.

Bringing in transfers is disruptive, need to make sure they are a fit. If they don’t improve the roster and locker room, why bother.

I guess I’m not really sure how as fans we determine which portal guys are must haves And big losses to the program. I understand the importance of bringing in portal guys but when the head coach said he’s not going to put a ton of emphasis on it this offseason maybe we should take his word for it. There is also time as well and I am sure Fran will fill a few gaps as he sees fit. We also don’t lose every recruit because somebody simply paid him more either.

I’ll worry about who we sign and don’t sign when Fran is no longer the coach. Up until that point I’ll trust the judgement of the guy who’s one of the top recruiters in the country and brought us a great season.
