i’m not the one suggesting to mark next season off as a year to learn.Did FrancoPizza take over your account?

Well, as others have said, perhaps in-person interactions are helpful as far as rapport go, in deciding whether to offer a specific player. Also, I would assume it's possible that some players might hold offers before visiting, but those offers are being kept under wraps, so to speak. It seems like most of our visitors so far we allegedly haven't offered. Why have them visit then? Not disputing your info, just curious
Lots of playing time available at that place.Appears to have nixed the Florida visit and visited Florida State instead.
That explains why the portal hasn’t seen much movement this weekJust an fyi...
- December 23, 2024 – January 5, 2025: Dead period
- Except: January 1–5, 2024: Quiet period for two- and four-year college transfer prospective student-athletes who intend to enroll midyear.
- January 6 – February 1, 2025: Contact period
- Except: Jan 12 Quiet Period
- Except: Jan 13–15 Dead Period
Let the visitations commence on 1/6.That explains why the portal hasn’t seen much movement this week
Has this date been approved by Jim L. Mora ?Let the visitations commence on 1/6.
bummer . was really hoping we had a shot here.Maryland may be tough to beat here.
I think if money wasn't an issue, we'd be in great shape.bummer . was really hoping we had a shot here.
Where is all this NIL going too? I mean I can see us paying Pena and Watson pretty good and a couple others but, is our NIL that bad we can’t pay this guy or does Fran not want to too.I think if money wasn't an issue, we'd be in great shape.
There's a big difference between throwing a lot of guaranteed money at a kid coming up a level vs. giving him some / making him earn it, that's all. Big Ten / SEC schools, if they want, can afford giving someone a big commitment and be OK if it fails. We can't.Where is all this NIL going too? My understanding is we are spending the vast majority of our NIL on retention vs acquisition. There's a big difference between throwing a lot of guaranteed money at a kid coming up a level vs. giving him some / making him earn it, that's all. Correct, which is the right approach in my mind. It's a way of knowing the money is going to the best places. My understanding is we are spending the vast majority of our NIL on retention vs acquisition.
This makes sense. The other way to interpret this is that the program does not have enough NIL to retain and build and so they are spending it on the retention side. The issue isn’t the program, it’s the lack of NIL funding. My understanding is we are spending the vast majority of our NIL on retention vs acquisition.
So all the players that didn't contribute to this year's success all got pay raises so they wouldn't leave. My understanding is we are spending the vast majority of our NIL on retention vs acquisition.
Damn Crab moneyI think if money wasn't an issue, we'd be in great shape.
Syracuse is never going to have enough NIL to be wasteful. We do have enough to be competitive. We also have a great staff that knows how to identify and recruit HS talent. We can build a solid team with enough depth to get through an entire season with this approach. Keep the kids that prove up and are good fits, spend money on strategic players in the portal and coach well. If we do that which is what Fran did in his first season, we will always be competitive and occasionally be excellent. This makes sense. The other way to interpret this is that the program does not have enough NIL to retain and build and so they are spending it on the retention side. The issue isn’t the program, it’s the lack of NIL funding.
Damn Crab money
We are trying to spend to retain our talent from bolting for more money. You think we are automatically giving more money to people that didn’t help our success? I don’t understand your thinkingSo all the players that didn't contribute to this year's success all got pay raises so they wouldn't leave.
Yup that makes sense. This whole system seems sustainable.
This is similar to Liverpools contracts in the epl and the way we/they compete and win in the epl and Europe. Oil rich teams pay guarantee contracts and can miss on 50+mil transfer fees while Liverpool pay half base contracts but often times much more with incentives added inThere's a big difference between throwing a lot of guaranteed money at a kid coming up a level vs. giving him some / making him earn it, that's all. My disdain isn't that we're doing it, my disdain is for such an absurd structure that we have to do it.We are trying to spend to retain our talent from bolting for more money. You think we are automatically giving more money to people that didn’t help our success? I don’t understand your thinking
I agree about the system being unsustainable as is. I took your comment to be specific to our situation and not the broader landscape. I do think our specific situation lends itself to retention over portals as far as NIL is concerned. Like we are seeing in basketball, when funds are “limited” you have to be right on both who you retain and who you target in the portal. My disdain isn't that we're doing it, my disdain is for such an absurd structure that we have to do it.
The NIL, that's not an really NIL, has nothing to do with name, image, likeness. Are just getting paid. Booster Cartels funding yearly salaries for college football players who are suppose to go to class for an education, under the guise that an educated young man benefits from being educated, but really are just searching for the best yearly salary year after year with colleges having to re-recruit almost entire rosters multiple times a year with most players getting pushed off rosters, out of colleges, and out of educational opportunities. Agents have no standards, aren't vetted in any way.
There is so much disinformation, mis direction, manipulation, straight up lying, corruption, illegality and we all just ignore it. Me included.
