OT: Report: Pat Narduzzi turns down offer to become UConn’s coach

There are rumors that Narduzzi may be in for a big payday as Saban's DC at Texas.

My feelings about UConn aside, Narduzzi can do a lot better than UConn, but there are no BCS conference HC jobs available anymore.

If he waits a year, HC jobs might be open at Kansas, Indiana, Illinois, K-State, Maryland and Rutgers. No need to jump now.

Rutgers fans were saying Narduzzi and another coach were contacted but the donors couldn't get enough money together so they decided to stick with Flood.

Must be a lot of excitement over on the boneyard. I remember when a lot of us here wanted him until he got blown out in the NC game. Great head of hair too.

We're pretty thrilled.

He's got a better pedigree than Schaffer or Flood or Adazio. Now he has to make the case that its easier beating out UCF, BYU & Cincy than FSU & Clemson to get to a BCS game.

I have a feeling we get to two before long.

If by "long" you mean circa a thousand years then I'm in agreement

True that. No football heritage, very few home grown recruits, a conference with no star power at this point and minimal fan interest.

After all the glowing things you said about the unlimited potential of the Big East post-SU and Pitt leaving, I really want to acknowledge the beauty of this post.

Kudos, OPA. Well done.

Ok. they changed the name New Year's Six but I think we all know what we are talking about.

Right, but it's not as simple as saying that its between the AAC and MW champ to get a spot. It's the top ranked team from the Group of Five. Given recent history, there's a good chance a MAC team tops both those leagues.

I wish you luck, I don't envy the spot UConn is in.

Yeah, but the real question is where will Diaco's return flight from the bowl game land?

At that point, I'm sure an RC Slocum type would be available.

Its a very good hire. Not Narduzzi good, but good nonetheless. Unfortunately for you, you've kinda already missed the boat with the whole realignment thing. So this kinda just seems like putting a whole lotta lipstick on a pig to me. You look better than yesterday, but does it all really matter that much seeing you're a mid major program now? Your rivals are now Tulane and SMU.

Good hire but the big question will be what coordinators are they going to get in. I bet Diaco will be HC/DC to save some $. They spent their entire TV funds on their HC!

If I recall they are getting 20-30 million from the former BE schools who had to buy their way out of the former BE. Spread out over 5 years I believe. UConn can basically use that to pay for their football staff every year if they wanted.
