OT: Sat Next to Mike Tirico at dinner tnite

For football we are a smaller group, expecting 15-20, but all big football fans. We get many more for basketball.
 
Just do the sensible thing and get Pitino. Have him bring in a staff of high upside assistants with the plan to develop one as the next guy.

I know, I know, people are going to say Pitino's past disqualified him.

Well, we're the institution that didn't terminate a coach for two separate NCAA violations.

If we think we're above Pitino, a, we're not, and b, we're hypocritical for being selectively moral.

Coach Boeheim doesn’t see the situation like fans do.
It’s pointless to complain he isn’t leaving. I wish he would call it a career but he won’t retire IMO.

None of those guys have really done anything notable at the college level in like a decade. Snyder hasn’t even coached in college since like 2006.

When JAB took the reins he had not accomplished anything as a coach as well. Coach K and JAB are BFF. Let's let one of Coach K's guys try and bring us back to national prominence. At least there is a connection there between Coach K and JAB.

It's got nothing to do with Duke for me. I'm just not impressed with Dawkins or Capel's track record to show they are capable of getting us back where I want to be. Not sure Snyder would even want to go back to college after doing pretty well in Utah. Amaker had a good run at Harvard for 4 or 5 years, but not as great lately.
 
The Coach K tree is not one I want a candidate from.
Steve Wojciechowski bombed at Marquette
Chris Collins hasn’t done anything major at Northwestern.
Jason Capel has done nothing without Blake Griffin.
Johnny Dawkins bombed at Stanford and is average at UCF.
Quinn Snyder got NCAA violations at Missouri and Popovich really reset his career.

No thanks to the Coach K tree.

I guess I just think that we shouldn’t be putting a lot of weight in who JB is friends with when we hire a new coach. While we’re at it, when we hired JB we played on a dirt floor, were a member of the ECAC and our peer programs were Canisius and Bonaventure. We don’t have to hold ourselves to 1977 standards.

I came out of Mexico a bit later than you guys, '94. Had a bunch of family that lived in the Phoenix school district side of Palermo.

Not ever going to happen. The talk about Pitino is becoming quite laughable. The only job he can get is Iona. No one will ever hire him again.

Um no. Compare what Missouri got accused of with and what Syracuse got accused of.
We got over-punished because Coach Boeheim couldn’t help himself in attacking the NCAA leadership and we are a private school. Our leadership did a terrible job handling the infractions the NCAA threw at us.

Snyder left college basketball because of what he did. Boeheim didn’t have to do that.
