Our fans are the best...

Looks like the forum blocks the ex links as profanity

Only external links to sites that sued me, or have threatened to sue me. I am funny that way :). The real reason has more to do with imbedded copyrighted graphics from those sites. I don't know how to get around allowing links to board posts, while blocking graphics.

So who are all these SU fans in North Carolina? Fans who came from SU, transplants, or do we have random followers in N.C.?

I live here now in Charlotte. I grew up and spent my first 22 years in Syracuse and all of my family lives in Syracuse still. I can tell you that there are tons of young adults that live in Charlotte from upstate. Most of the people in Charlotte are from elsewhere.

I generally make fun of the sore loser "Waaah, their fans were mean!' threads. This was just some kind of experience. Their fans, as a whole, were pretty much a bunch of arrogant, rude, and obnoxious yankee trash, as we all expected.

I take exception with calling us a "bunch".

Watching the game on the tube last night. I was so impressed with all the Orange in the stands. I was amazed with the "Scoooooop" yell. IMPRESSIVE!!
To the NC State fans: I have bad news fo you. The Confederacy is not going to rise again ... get over it. We whipped your asses in 1865 and now we whipped your asses in 2011. Look out ACC ... here come the Orange and their fans. We're everywhere!!

I sat in the 300s and drank at Backyard Bistro before the game. I witnessed some brief "out of bounds" behavior by both sets of fans. Some young NC State guys tried a "Bernie Fine" chant at times at the Bistro but couldn't quite find any takers for an argument. At the game I sat near a really obnoxious 'cuse fan who was screaming some stuff that was not appropriate for the young kids (NC State fans) in front of him.

Other than that, I thought NC State fans were really classy. Random "Lets Go Orange" chants dominated the Bistro and RBC. I would say maybe even 40% of the fans were Orange. It was pretty amazing.

LOL at NC State fans crying about us "Yankees". Its funny reading the State board and also the UNC board. They have a thread on their page about how we turned it into "Carrier Dome South" haha. You get the feeling some of these ACC fanbases are wondering just what the %^$& did we invite into our conference ;)

My parents are looking at moving to Alpharetta GA. They just got home from spending a few days down there. One of my former roommates also lives in Alpharetta. My parents said the real estate agent they met was from Syracuse, her husband is a huge Cuse fan from Long Island. They saw people in the local mall wearing Syracuse gear. Met another family from Utica, huge Syracuse fans at an open house. My roommate told me he sees Syracuse gear all the time, especially when he goes into Atlanta.

We own the East Coast and I think were going to have a gooooooood time in the ACC!!!

I ask all fans and the team to EMBRACE BEING THE HEEL.

I can do that.

And to creatorsgame, no right thinking person would rather be in Raleigh than Chapel Hill. The Franklin Street experience is not to be missed.

My brother attended the game and said practically the entire upper deck was Orange. He estimated the crowd was 30% SU fans :)

I was there and I estimate 15 to 20% max but we were very loud

Ummmm ... just finished reading a non-premium forum from NC State (ie: God Almighty...something or other). From their comments it sounds to me like some of our fans were very bad boys and girls :blah:. My goodness their comments about us Yankee-trash and Syracuse having no in-door plumbing was ripe (no pun intended) especially when we know half of the South still uses outhouses. I guess the SU fanbase has disrupted the gentility of the South (after all as one NCS person said .. my god they don't wear anything under their shirts!! - and he/she was talking about a guy). Funnier was that they saw the huge showing as a result of SU being #1 ... not realizing that SU travels no matter where we are in the polls. I think the ACC had better get used to it ... Yes we will fill your empty arenas!! And we will be louder than you are!!
And they use the excuse that they had no fans was b/c their team stinks and has for 20-25 years ... Nice NC State fans!!
Here is a positive note for all you NC State lurkers ... Your team played very well ... despite the margin of victory for SU your kids played their hearts out and it was one of the best games that SU has played all year. It's amazing that it takes an SU fan to tell you that about your own team! How about giving them support instead of whining. I was pretty disgusted by all the negative comments coming from fans about their team ... and then saying its b/c of the fanbase. BS. From what I read I can simply ask ... "What fanbase?"
NC State has a good team now and a very bright future ... Did you even know that your recruiting class is in the top 10? Support your team for chrissakes ... attend your games. SU seats 12 - 15,000 on a bad night (mid week Colgate kinds of game) ... We look forward to playing you again in the future ... just stop your whining.

Miami, Georgia Tech, Maryland etc...this was just a preview ;-)

This is so odd. Does there exist some bizarre Dixie stereotype that Northerners are inferior? Maybe mine are the ignorant words of someone who's lived all but four years of his life in the North, but the idea that "Yankee" could serve as an appropriate modifier for "trash" is an absolute head-scratcher.

Also after reading their forum throw in rednecks, and a whole bunch more ... I though rednecks was more a southern term describing attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors of a "southern variety"

I was up in 303 and SU fans were either equal to or possibly outnumbering NCST fans but from where my family was seated we saw absolutely ZERO disrespect by SU fans. A whole lot of cheering and one hilarious guy in a blonde wig and orange hat giving some NCST fans the "I'm watching you" finger points from his eyes (it was in humor, he was laughing). The NCST fans simply didn't like being out cheered in their own house.

The old guy behind me swearing up a storm (I did have my 3yr olds with me) was just grumpy but nothing that isn't equaled or surpassed by the blue hairs in the dome.

It is. Generally, when refering to rednecks, you're not talking about yankees...or vice-versa

I've watched the game a couple of times now and the SU crowd was impressive. Kudos to all that were there. the Scoooooooooooooop cheer was especially noticeable. One NC State poster was impressed with the "oooooooooooohhhh" cheer not realizing it was for one specific player.

I live in Virginia and will always be a yankee in the eyes of natives, but lots of expatriate northerners like myself inhabit the southeast. For many of us, games in ACC country are closer than in the Big East. I didn't get to Raleigh, but I'll be making more games than I have in the past 20 years. If I'm like the rest of the wandering northerners, there should be good SU crowds for the forseeable future.

I live in Alpharetta...its going to be the same way at Georgia Tech. I've seen SU gear at North Point Mall. There are literally thousands of ex-NYers that live here.

I was in section 207 and I and the other Syracuse fan in the section (a solid amount of them too, I might add) didn't have too much of a problem. I warned the NC State fans behind us that we would stand until the first basket so they didn't get all pissy. Because of that, I did get the rest of the SU fans to stand and clap until we scored so it was a win-win for me. When I was walking in, I saw almost all Syracuse fans and the SU fans were chanting LET'S GO ORANGE which took some of the NC State fans by surprise. The only thing that bugged me about their fans was that no matter what the call was against them, it was a horrible call and should have either been a no-call or foul the opposite way. And I mean ever call such as the Fab dunk to start the game, it was blatant. They just constantly yelled for stupid fouls that were in no way going to be called. The Syracuse fan in my section were just pretty calm and passionate Syracuse fans, nothing too big happened on either side.

Now my friends on the other side had a slightly different experience. They said that the NC State fans were shocked that SU was in the 2-3 lol. They also were under the impression that if their guy was in the circle and took a charge, that it was automatically a charge. Also said that they constantly yelled for 3 second calls even if we weren't in the lane, travels, carries, and double dribbles throughout the whole game. He had his 2 kids with him and one of the NC State fans that was like a 10 year old girl told his son that's around the same age to go back to New York to which he responded by saying he was born in NC and lived there his whole life.

That said, I was born in Syracuse but grew up for the most part in the South so I know how to deal with Southerners very well. I'm also a pretty big guy and my best friend beside me is also a big guy so we never have much of an issue with anybody at any game we go to. We did listen to the NC State fans after the game on the radio and I was laughing when their analyst or something said something along the lines of, "Well, for coming off a week of exams, a 16 point loss is pretty good." I was like wow, they really do accept mediocrity here, might be why their last ACC championship was in like '89. They all about shat themselves when it was announced they were going to the Belk bowl there lol.

I just read the threads about our fans over there at Pack Pride and while some of the stuff they said about our fans was funny some of it was just plain idiotic. They have no idea of the facts in the Fine issue and it seems they think anyone from the north is a "guido". Were there lots of cuse fans with spray tans and hair sprayed hair?

Obviously they think Syracuse is right next to the Jersey Shore. :rolling:

I have family in Alpharetta. I'm actually heading down there on Friday. Really nice area, and Atlanta is an awesome city.

It is funny how dumb some of those "rebels" are. I'm only 19 but I didn't think they still used the term "yankee" when talking about us northerners. I mean the civil war did end 140 years ago.

The Scoop chants were by far my favorite part. So loud on TV.

As someone who lives in Woodstock GA, I can attest to quite a few CUSE fans here! My license plate CUSE 1 gets a lot of attention! as for my GA Tech son and my Clemson son...the rivalry begins!
