We have a tough OOC schedule next year: #9 Notre Dame-Metlife, an up and coming South Florida team(they are going to be the preseason pick to win the AAC East), @UConn, Colgate.

Conference schedule: @ #1 Clemson, #6 Florida State, #24 Louisville, Virginia Tech, @Pittsburgh, NC State, @Boston College, @Wake Forest.

Wow is that a tough schedule. The ACC could actually have 2 teams in the CFB playoff picture next year.

The Opening week of the season Clemson @ Auburn, Florida State-Ole Miss in Orlando.

3 top 10 preseason teams has to be a first in a long time for Syracuse football.

Check out 2017, that is even harder.
I think our OOC will be easier in 2017.
Both ND and LSU are both losses.

However USF, @UConn, Colgate are tough. Colgate is a playoff FCS team and USF is going to be a contender in the American and @UConn is going to be a disgusting crowd on the road.

I wouldn't be shocked if we go 2-2 next year.

Atleast 2017 we can schedule 3 wins in the OOC. @Miami will be tough in Kaaya's Senior year but Watson will be gone from Clemson. They probably will be a top 15 team instead of a top 3 team next year.

Ugh wish we could kick that LSU can way down the road. We have no business playing a team like that out of conference right now. Once is enough. ND is a necessary evil, but what $ucks is we have to play them in NYC. Might as well move it to South Bend and get an a true away credit.

Clemson which we competed with the first two years in ACC is pulling fully away. Hate having FSU and them on the schedule every year. Never really fear UL. Although they beat us every time, just think we can play with them, I know I'm crazy.

BTW: Screw Pitt and them getting the easier path in the ACC. SO MUCH ANGER...

I'm very excited for that trip. Obviously winning will be very difficult, but just for the entire gameday experience down there. It's a college football bucket list item for me.

Personally, I can't wait to go to LSU. Their fans were great in the Dome and it is going to be an explosive atmosphere.

Sadly, my favorite two games last year were losses to LSU and Clemson at home.

Ironically, the last couple years, we've actually competed better with Clemson in football than in basketball. I don't know which part of that statement is worse.

You both are correct, I meant to add, the gameday experience in Baton Rouge should be awesome. Unfortunately, it will be very tough to win there. They once again have the top recruiting class.

Can you imagine firing a coach who wins 9-10 a year and has the top class coming in. Oh and paying him 15 mil to go away. Unbelievable, and we are playing in a different dimension then the SEC.

Didn't everyone say Louisville would be freakin amazing this year and never were.

Acc won't have two teams in the playoff either.

Uggh. I see 3 games against non P5 schools. Add in Wake and BC and that's 5 games against teams we need to be consistently better than. That is where HCDB needs to return this program to.

I doubt we'll have a year where the schedule doesn't look tough in some respect.

(1) We play in a real conference and face the two best programs annually.

(2) We always play a legit OOC schedule.

Things will look better when we're better.

We need to start scheduling OOC easier. We're killing ourselves. Need to be 4-x at the beginning of every October. We need people to be excited early in season

USF returns basically their entire team. I think UConn does as well. Both will have staff continuity. Neither game will be as easy as people want it to be. If this were 2017 or 2018 they probably would be, but not early in Year 1 AD (after Dino).

No reason to think the D won't struggle equally as much as they did in 2015. So the real silver lining as the season unfolds is how many points can we score to keep up?

Dino's hiring wasn't necessarily about 2016. It was about everything after that. Future is bright. 2016, probably not so much.

its not any harder than the past couple years
When have we had 3 preseason top 10 teams on the schedule?
My guess is 1990 or 1991. The past few years we played 2 top 10 teams in 2013, we played 2 top 10 teams in 2014 and only 1 top 10 team last year.
3 top 10 teams plus Louisville top 25 and Virginia Tech is almost half the schedule.
That is a damn hard schedule with our current talent level.

Did we have 3 team on our schedule last year that were at one point in the top 10?

True but I don't think you need to go the State route and schedule 4 teams no one has ever heard of.

Yes we did ... RI < Colgate (doesn't matter both should be easy Ws), USF = USF, LSU = ND and UConn > CMU (not by much) I feel like this past season and next season are pretty much a wash.

We're always going to try to keep one big name out there. ND is already setup thru the conference, but other than that we'll wrap up with LSU in 2017, Wisconsin is on the horizon, and someone else will be behind that.

There will always be 1 FCS.

That in between zone is going to be a variable for us. You try to lock up a MAC and AAC as best you can. But some years, like last year, the AAC will overachieve. Then all the coaches will leave, new crop will come up, some years those teams will be fairly good, some years they will be terrible.

2016, @UConn (UConn's Super Bowl) and home to USF who has been building something, combined with us starting over, it may not work out as well.
