Girard was out at 12:25 in second half. Returned at 10:51.Girard played 34 minutes. He sat in the first half.
Then for 30 seconds in the second half.
We didn’t sub for 15 minutes in the second half.
The team got gassed.
Sorry I was wrong then we subbed 1:36 in the first 15 minutes.Girard was out at 12:25 in second half. Returned at 10:51.
I know that it is JB's MO to play his starters as much as possible, especially in the second half of a tight game. This has been debated endlessly here for what seems like decades and you can either believe in JB's ideology or disagree with it (I'm in the camp of playing more guys).
But this year, this sub pattern makes no sense given that the team lost those 2 weeks of practice and JB himself has acknowledged that the team is not in peak basketball shape. Even if you just get the starters spot rest for 60-90 seconds of game time leading into TV timeouts, that would save their legs. I know we have been shorthanded without Buddy and SID, but there really is no excuse for this. It is the height of arrogance and stubbornness on JB's part. He has to recognize that in 2020, in basketball as in life, all the rules have changed.
I would understand going with the starters if the RU lead had expanded while we were subbing in the first half.Especially when they played well in the first half!
Makes the point a bit less pointed.Sorry I was wrong then we subbed 1:36 in the first 15 minutes.
That doesn’t change the point.
No actually it doesn’t.Makes the point a bit less pointed.
I’ll say it, the second half was THE WORST SUBSTITUTION JOB by JB in his 45 years of coaching. This loss is entirely on his stubbornness. He will say his players don’t get tired. In an interview the other day he said Kadary gets tired. Can’t have it both ways. Players get tired. Why do you think coaches substitute in the NBA? Lebron doesn’t play 48 minutes. Abysmal coaching job by JB.
