I am aware we all want that, my point was don’t accept what has been going on since 2014-2015. Some people seem to accept it.

Do we accept the Final Four and two Sweet 16’s? What choice do we have?

Stop accepting it? What choice do you have?
How about hire a coach who can re-energize a program that has grown stale, and instead of being staffed by only loyalist former players who aren’t doing enough on that front, we have a staff that can kill it in recruiting?

So you want to fire JB? Do we have the power to do that?

If indeed jay Bilas said that, then he isn't very smart. The sanctions have nothing to do with how many guys you play. that would work if you hit on all of your recruits. But really, no one does. We didn't have the same number of guys to chose from to get our 6 or 7 players. If we had the ships we would have landed the kid that went to Maryland. we didn't get him because at the time, the ship loss was 3. Not 2. I hope Jay isn't really that dumb.

He said the numbers thing on ESPN's Mike and Mike afterwards which he was on frequently at the time the show existed. Here's a few quotes of his relatively along the same lines.

“The penalties are less significant than the cloud that’s been hanging over the program for the last seven or eight years,” Bilas said. “Overall I think they’ll be fine.” He said the scholarship reductions will likely affect the way the program recruits players. He said since the Orange will have fewer scholarships available, it will have to be “a little more judicious about recruiting.”

In any event, as I mentioned and you are quite aware, this topic was debated here ad nauseam and I no longer have any interest in debating the topic. You are also aware that Jay isn't "that dumb" or dumb at all for that matter based upon his professional background and extensive knowledge. No need to inject that to fit your viewpoint or apparent narrative.

Reading through this thread, and seeing people argue different sides -- many of whom I think are great posters...

Why can't both things be true at the same time? Because they are.

The program has slipped a notch, as evidenced by the regular season performance over an extended period of time.

And JB has had postseason success over the last 8+ years that outshoots our seedings most years, and he deserves to be commended for that.

One thing being true doesn't invalidate the other.

I said if he believes that the ship reduction didn't hurt us, that is a dumb . I don't believe for a second that he can believe that. I disagree. That was needed.

I have said as long as people accept the expectations aren’t the same then the frustration should dissipate.
If we are going to pretend we are still a big dog program our last regular season conference game as a ranked team shouldn’t be March 9, 2014.

I got no problem recalibrating expectations. We just can’t pretend we are a big dog.

Guerrier was our best player for the first half of the season. From February on I have no debate that Buddy carried us. I think JB did his son a disservice playing him 40mpg when he was clearly struggling in January.

you guys keep forgetting that there is a big set of data you have no exposure to

I want him to retire and just because we don’t have the power to do that doesn’t mean we can’t voice that wish. That’s why this forum exists.

OK. But he wasn’t retiring mid-season. And he’s not retiring this year. He will leave when he’s ready. That’s what you need to accept.

Agree. We all want that. But I’m not going to cry and call for JB to be fired or complain that his kid plays too much. In the end, he usually finds a way to be successful.
In the post season.

What are your expectations for the program?
If all you care about Is the postseason say as much.

Just saying in the end it works itself isn’t the complete picture.

Our program is top 10 in revenue and profitability. Their are resources.

You try to shut down frustration.
Lumping it all together and not putting any of it into context.

Nobody wants JB fired. It doesn’t mean people have to shut up and can’t express frustration and at where the program is.

The sweet sixteen is nice but we are not competing for the top of or conference. If you are top of the conference team then you are likely a national title contender.

If you want to have the mentality of a mid of the conference P5 team that is fine.
The expectations for the fanbase should be adjusted.

Don’t expect to compete for conference titles be happy we are sweet 16 team.

Yeah, that’s absurd. He’s our best player.
No, that is absurd. The first half of the year buddy was not our best player. Such an insane statement. Did you watch every game this season?

Buddy turned it on like a maniac to close this season out and I give him tons of credit for stepping up.

False. He's our best player. Period.

The kid is a threat to score 20 every night, and people want to play him less minutes? That's what is absurd.

I expect us to be a Top 25 program most of the time and be in the upper tier of the ACC. However, I am realistic and understand there were things that hurt the program (sanctions, Hop leaving, uncertainty with JB retiring). We are close to getting back there. Losing Bazely hurt, even if for just one year. Hurts losing Dior Johnson and Isaiah Jackson. Think we would have been a Top 25 team this season had Sidibe been healthy.

In your opinion is JB doing enough to ensure we will be top 25 next season?

He wasn't though. You've got your mind made up regardless, so have a good Monday.

To the overall point of this thread. I would gladly take Griffin or Quincy back on next year's squad. I still see a spot that needs filled at guard, as well, with the disclaimer that I know nothing about Symir's ability.

Leading scorer by a lot. Best shooter. Most impactful player. Idiotic to play him less minutes.
