Anyone think JB could be turning over a new leaf with some M2M Defense??

I wonder at 8 deep if he felt we were not as ready to play it as the zone we recruit for

But at a long 9-10 deep with the
1. Reflexes
2.Scrappyness and sliding speed
3. Experience
if he feels we have the guns to play it more as we head into the ACC.

JB's got a great core of players for the zone. I mean all 4 of the forwards are perfect fits for it. I think against a talented PF who can score this bunch would be in trouble playing M2M, there'd be problems for all four of them individually.

If we are going to see a change in defense this year, it could come with more pressing. The depth is certainly helpful as is the all around length, and we've already seen some pressing early on.

Only way we become a great man-to-man defense team is if JB finally relents and lets igor come in and run a clinic...otherwise, we'll lean more Tavern League. Is there a sarcasm button I can hit?

We played a ton of M2M in the 08-09 season, especially toward the end.

In spite of what some people say here, I don't think JB is married to the zone - he's married to playing in a manner that he believes will give Syracuse the best chance of winning. I'm just excited to see the team buy into playing ANY defense. Starting with the 2010 team, it seems like the team has taken it seriously. Even the 09 team, as good as it was, gave up 100 points a few times, including to Providence.

The defense you play depends largely on your personnel and depth. Shouldn't be a surprise that we might match up more this year with our athleticism and the fact we go at least 10 deep.

Igor will not show up on this board until we lose a game, and lose it playing exclusively zone.

Let's hope Igor won't show up for a very long time.

He won't be the only one to come out from hiding. Many posters here revel in our losses, not just Igor.

Don't wake the Village Idiot... He will show up on his own...

We all kid that there must be no Internet reception down in Florida and that is why Iggy doesn't post in the winter time, but someone I know was just down there about an hour north of Orlando and they said they had no cell phone reception all week. Needless to say, it's never too late for Iggy to step over the threshold.

The luxury with going 10 deep is that it gives you another way to protect against having a key player foul out. The Zone, of course, is what SU has used in the past to protect players. With two options this year, I don't think any team will endanger SU by trying to draw fouls.-VBOF

Igor owns, especially when SU is having a good season and he really has to reach for it.

Igor is a legend. I feel like he has been a syracuse insider since the 60's.

You know who else I miss is Moqui. Is he out there anywhere?
