Guess you missed the last month. When Sidibe actually got the ball he scored efficiently and effectively

Three years of ineptitude, vs one month of serviceable play

Our roster composition is completely out of whack.

Not saying this kid isn't good and won't help -- I think he could help at multiple positions (looks like he could play the wing, a la Rick Jackson or Rakeem Christmas).

As it stands now, we have as many centers as we do guards on the roster.

We’d probably redshirt Edwards and JBA would get no PT. But Sidibe and Tape would be gone next year while JBA and Edwards will be sophomores

If you didn’t think he looked different we didn’t see the same games. He was finally healthy too.

Also, Rak had a similar career path. You really don’t think players can IMPROVE?

Christmas' leap was the single greatest I've seen of any college player, ever. To claim Sidibe has had a similar career path is insane. We can't confidently claim Sidibe has made a leap of any kind. He was surely better at the end of the season, that is indisputable

I don't understand the need to pit Tape and Sidibe against each other. Every team wants two good centers.

Fab Melo was the best defensive center Syracuse has ever had in my opinion, and part of the reason he was so good is because he had Keita behind him allowing him to go all out without needing to worry about sitting sometimes.

There is plenty of PT to go around, and it will allow Edwards a year to red shirt and work on his body (good news) and Ajak a year to understudy and learn (good news).

I think Syracuse needs another center. In a perfect world Id prefer a great shot blocker, but this is a pretty good option.

First, it was the last month which shows where he is right now. Not two years ago. And the next time that Tape plays against the comp that Sidibe does every day, will be the first. I want Tape. He makes us a better team. but let's not get crazy either.

This started when you said Tape will be 3x better than someone who averaged 6/8 on 70% shooting; including almost a double double over the last month. If you think Tape is better, fine - but it’s not a significant difference and they’d be a great duo

You want to bash Sidibe? Do it on the main board. You want to talk about Rakeem? Do it on the main board. You want to talk about anything other than Tapé? Do it on the main board.
Sorry bossman :(

Looked Jeff Ermann up, he's a Maryland guy. Anybody know if he's got any credibility?

I know Jeff a little. Real good guy. Back on another host site he was a recruiting writer for us for a bit. Had some good sources and knowledge back then. So he’s got cred IMO but none of these guys are ever 100%.

Is it so out of line to mention other big men when discussing the potential addition of another?

I'm assuming you've watched Tape's tape, and compared it with Sidibe's. You're telling me there's no significant difference? Forgive me Orange79, that's the last

Also have to remember that Rakeem Christmas was an elite high school player having played in the Jordan and McDonald's AA game.

It's not an either or. Likely will be teammates with the best player getting the minutes and who knows maybe he and Sidibe can play at the same time. For once we have some competition at the center position.

From the video, Tape is a physical presence around the basket with excellent footwork who can score with either hand on a variety of moves. You also can't teach 240 lbs. Not a high flyer but appears to have good length and timing on blocking shots.

He looks like the kind of center that has killed SU over the years with their inside game. Will be nice to have a legitimate low post threat that guards can dump the ball to. Let's hope we can close the deal. Having two assistants who coached him over the summer has to be a huge plus now that he has gotten Duke out of his system.
