PAY THAT MAN HIS MONEY!!!!

Fran will stay as long as he has the support to do what he feels he needs to to compete for National Championships. There’s no smoke from him, that’s the goal in his mind. He coaches his guys to play like they’re the best, because he believes that they can.

He’s relentless, he doesn’t stop coaching, recruiting and meeting with people to get the program where it needs to be. The man is always moving.

There are people invested in this thing, but not enough of them… yet.

The defense was a night and day difference compared to the UConn game. They were not missing nearly as many tackles, were gang tackling and not giving up on the plays. Props to Erob.

The tackles being made in 1:1 situations in the open field have been really nice to see. Maybe the tackling coach techniques is starting to make a difference.

There’s been a lot of talk about the university “needing” to give Fran Brown more support. But look at the reality: Dino Babers’ last season had far fewer staff and resources than what Fran currently has. By most accounts, Fran’s staff is triple the size (or more) of what Dino had. The university is giving Fran essentially everything he needs right now.

Buyout – You could make Fran’s buyout $200 million and an SEC or Big Ten school might still shrug—see Jimbo Fisher. Buyouts are more symbolic than real deterrents. They don’t truly keep a great coach from being poached.

Coaching staff turnover – We’re going to lose assistants, and that’s not a bad thing. Someone like Nixon will be a head coach soon, and others will move on to grow their careers. Fran has mostly made smart replacement hires so far. Seeing coaches leave can actually be a healthy sign of success.

AD–Coach relationship – Fran and the AD need to be in constant, open, honest communication. Lay out what’s possible, the long-term plans, and what will require more alumni support. Keep Fran from feeling like Doug Marrone did. Right now it looks like they’re on the same page, which is encouraging.

Bottom line – Give Fran the keys to the kingdom and let him build. If we lose him, we risk setting the program back 5–10 years—or more. Fran Brown is the future of Syracuse football. If he stays, his name will stand alongside Schwartzwalder, MacPherson, and Pasqualoni—maybe even above them.

Agree on everything although Nixon may want a head coaching job. I believe that is in his ambitions.
Correct. Nixon is already taking a discount to coach his son and be close to his daughter. If we got another year out of him it’s a miracle. I wouldn’t count on that. He will at very least get an NFL OC job next year if not a HC job somewhere. And he deserves it.

I just typed "Fran Brown" into X to see which fans were talking about hiring him. Here goes:

Florida
Arkansas
Bama
Michigan
Michigan State
Pitt
USC
It's a double-edged sword. Nobody would be talking about him if he weren't successful. And if he weren't successful, nobody would be talking about him.

Personally, I don't expect Coach to be here forever. I hope he is, but I don't expect it.

Let's all enjoy the ride while he's here. I think it's going to be a fun one.

Also very important - the views of the new Chancellor on sports/major college athletics. Those views will probably color the choice of the new AD (which will probably be sooner than we think - just a feeling).

That will go a long way in determining how long Fran is here. Personally, I hope he retires as Syracuse head coach. We'll see.

Absolutely. It's just a great time to be a Syracuse University football fan. It's so much fun. I'm still pumped from yesterday.

He has mentioned 10 years a few times. He said he wants to build legacies and not just coach teams.

The biggest thing with the Fran Brown extension isn’t just the money for him — it’s also about building up the NIL resources that will improve the roster through both recruiting and the portal. Better NIL support means we can bring in stronger personnel and also pay his staff the way Syracuse needs to if we want to keep climbing. To keep up with Fran Brown’s level of recruiting, the school has to move quickly on resources. With real backing, we can start landing more 4- and 5-star guys and take this program to another level.

Fran seems to be a Northeast guy who isn’t all about money. I believe that he has more money than he knows what to do with right now. I don’t think money is a deciding factor on where he wants to coach . I think this is the kind of program he wants to run. More of an underdog than a football factory type program. I think he is a very loyal guy not cut from the same mold as most of today’s coaches and people in general He’s a very unique and different kind of person in the best way possible.

That said I’m sure if he stays successful he will get a significant pay raise. I could be wrong but that could be more than enough for him to stay

And we have to keep the talent we have. Samuels and Deslauriers are future AAs. They are gonna get big offers.

I agree—keeping the talent we already have on the roster while adding even more will make a big difference. I think the wide receiver position will improve next year with Calvin Russell and Amare Gough. Bringing in additional recruits will also help maintain our current talent on the roster while continuing to strengthen it.

it’s great to see everyone confirming what I have been talking about on this forum since Fran arrived.
Now that Orange United is no longer supporting football, how many here are going to support SUFootball NIL? Support the local businesses that donate to NIL. Looking at the NIL website they are- Meiers Creek, Community Bank, Hayner Hoyt, Custom wealth, atlas fence and PHG.
If that’s the only ones locally that support our NIL program, they need us to support them.

I have been critical of Erob all year for his passive play. 2nd half he called the defense we have all been begging for. Don’t know if Fran told him to or not but it was extremely effective. Hope we see more!
I'd guess Fran pulled rank and said it's my way or the highway.

Need to do everything they can to keep him next year. It’s all set up to be a huge season

Honest, non-political question, so don't roast me: Can Fran be as openly religious with his players at a state school? Some things he says are not allowed at public K-12 schools but I am curious if it is an issue at the university level.

We don't need to see anything else just pay the guy long term big buyout.

The problem is that Fran would want his staff to get the money before himself so the university is gonna have to figure out how to pay Fran and increase staff salaries.
