Totally understand. UW fans are just really excited because we don’t get recruits like this all the time.

You guys have plenty to be excited about and I actually think Cuse can go deep this season if the chips fall in place. I will say that if UW doesn’t get him, I would be happy with seeing him at Syracuse.

You got plenty of high rated recruits under Romar , you just didn’t do much team wise with them.

I want Hop to have great success. Any kid would do well to play for him. That said, I hope SU gets this kid. If not, well, I would rather see him go play for Hop than anyplace else.

I’m glad it’s Hop if true. He’s an awesome recruiter and a great guy. I want him to do well and always assumed we had little chance on this one.

Would you feel the same if we came in second? I want hop to succeed too but if we find out we were runners up it’s a different story

Well I must say that does seem to be the reasoning embraced by all those "in the know" who are predicting IS to UW.

Let me just say that if it turns out that IS ends up choosing SU over UW, it will mean that this 'conventional wisdom' was more than a little bit flawed.

I'm someone who happens to put a great deal more weight on the significance of IS's decision some months ago to put off his final decision until later in this current season. It's not that he couldn't decide on who he really liked, which would naturally put Hop right there at the top, probably, but that he wanted to see something else that could only be revealed to him later, some time during the season. What could that possibly be?

Well to me, the fact that he announced that he's made a decision only days after two of his final choices played each other, probably tells us something. But what?

Well, if he was waiting to see SU vs. Duke, then it seems likely he wasn't just waiting to see if he really really liked Mike Hopkins as a personality/coach. He knows that and has known it for years. If he wanted to see SU vs. Duke, then perhaps it's because he had already decided that his love of Mike Hopkins would not be the deciding factor unless he saw something in the SU/Duke game that made him not like the idea of playing for either man.

But what did he see? Boeheim doing it again, defeating the #1 team in the country on its own court in historic fashion.

He was able---on the one hand---to picture himself on a star-studded team with the top two NBA draft choices on the court with him and imagine how it would be to play for such a team vs. Jim Boeheim. But what he saw was how that could turn out: an historical loss to the Upstate NY legend whom he had heard about his whole life in Rochester.

(Did you hear JB mention {to IS?} in the post-game PC that Syracuse didn't have an inside offensive presence, or else he would have taken advantage of it?) Is there any possibility that JB took advantage of an opportunity to call IS the next day and tell him how he would have used him in a game vs. Duke?

If IS had been carrying around any concerns re: whether or not Boeheim would have enough talent with him in the lineup to defeat such powerhouse teams as Duke and Kentucky, I think he had them answered on Monday.

I like following the herd as much as the next fan, but I can at least see how this little drama might turn out somewhat differently from what everyone seems to be predicting is a done deal...

Interesting...when I posted the above earlier, almost no one thought there was any chance of IS choosing SU. Now, a few hours later, there is this sentiment that there is...a chance...(cue the meme)...

Before I posted the earlier comment, I didn't go back through the whole thread to see if there was any speculation re: whether or not SU's win over Duke might have a positive impact on IS's recruitment. Was there? Was it immediately dismissed?

The kid isn't making his decision based on our win over Duke. Just like he isn't picking someone else because we sheit the bed last Saturday against Georgia Tech.

I gotta say ..my feeling is that he goes to UW. Too many prognosticators picking Wash, which means we would have to pull Stewart out of our backside and we dont have a good track record at all of doing that ...in fact, just the reverse: other schools seem to pull solid Cuse leans to their respective schools.

Don't know why this seems to be the case. We probably don't get him ...but we'll be fine ...but if we do!!

Tyus Battle says hi. ;)
Dude actually VERBALLED to Michigan, then ended up at Cuse anyway.
Dunno how anybody wouldn't call that a solid late pull.

People are totally sleeping on Goodine

I know he's a good player. Don't you agree that right now Guerrier is probably the star of this class?

I asked weitsman what he thought our chances are on this and he replied 25%. Gotta keep telling myself that hes going to Washington so I'm not bummed out later. Sure would be nice to pull this one off though!

I think Goodine will be the best player in this class and probably still will be even if we land Stewart ... by that I mean I'll take Goodines junior year which will probably still be at Cuse over Stewart's freshman year which is likely all we'd get with him.

Goodine is going to be a stud!

There's always an exception to the rule. But glad he's here

on paper and as of now, yes

but goodine, jgiii and jba are all very underrated and all have high ceilings, too. and that is not meant to discount qg, either.

this is a very good class.

Forget it. He's Cuse.

Don't ask me if I have inside info, cuz I never have inside info. I'm just sayin'

JBA doesn't seem that athletic to me, sorry. Slow release on his shot, doesn't bang inside, doesn't have great hops. I just don't see it with this kid. I see 3 years before he's a contributor.

I think that Girard has a lot of Gerry McNamara in him, but will he be athletic enough and is he a PG?
Goodine seems like another excellent athlete who may or may not be skilled enough at guard right away.
Will Carey get his handle under control?
Will Buddy improve his lateral quickness at the top of the zone?
Will Sidibe ever recover his explosive jump?
Lots of questions about our young players next year.

Weitsman (a good close friend of JBs) is driving 10 hours in a snowstorm to see this Zay announcement live. And he only gives it a 25 percent chance? Lol

Gotta admit, that seems beyond bizarre if he doesn't know something.
Eh, I don't know. Sounds like a guy who can afford to take 10 hour flyers just for the heck it
