Class of 2022 PF Kyle Filipowski (MA) Offered

Kyle flip is a must!!
Flip is a real difference maker at Syracuse. At Duke he is another guy. He would still be a great player, but they have had a long string of great forwards (mostly paid). He is that guy that you can plug in and he just changes our whole lineup. Without him, we are looking at Jesse, Benny, Swider, Justin and JG3. Off the bench, we would have Kamari, Symir and Frank (just guessing, of course). Add him and hopefully JJ and/or Cope and we have a battle at PG between senior JG3, JJ and Cope and then Flip has to start. That would push Cole to the bench and create unbelievable depth and versatility.

Edit: that lineup without Flip, JJ or Cope is still killer, but with any or all of them and it becomes top ten good and hopefully beyond.

With DC committed elsewhere, what are the chances we also offer the brother? Would that help our chances here?

Well, Kyle may or may not come here. I hope that he does come.

If we recruit his brother, Matthew we should recruit him on his own merit/potential. That said, we will have two centers if Jesse and Frank stay around. Matthew Filipowski could come to Syracuse and be nurtured in his freshman/Sophmore years and be a good contributor and starter in his junior year.

Illinois and Pitt have offered both Filipowski.

Yes, We should explore the possibility

Illinois has had a couple good years but outside of that both of those programs are going to use every tactic. Plus with Orlando heading back to UK, Illinois regression back to their mean is in progress.

Flip will got serious playing time here. If he goes to Duke he’s absolutely not guaranteed that, especially with the abundance of bigs they’re recruiting for the ‘22 class. I really hope he sees it that way!
I doubt any top 25-50 kid sees it that way. They all think they will play immediately regardless of the situation and then head to the league. More than that, I'm not sure I would want a kid who didn't have enough confidence in his game to think that way.

I doubt the roster at Duke will have much of an impact on Flip's decision.

Plus, with no-wait transfers now available, the downside of getting stapled to the bench would seem to be a lot lower now, right? If Flip (or whoever) gets Jordan Tucker-ed at Duke, he knows he can be plugged in at another program for the start of his sophomore season. It’s certainly not ideal, but it’s less painful than having to sit out a year and find a school that is willing to wait (and eat a scholarship while you sit).

Yeah I think saying Flip ends up being a nobody at Duke but a somebody at Cuse is a strange take. Dude could end up being a monster at Duke. Let's not be those fans. Kid is a player and we are in it with Duke. Let's effin win it!
He’s a stud no doubt. But I think it’s more of a guarantee that he’s a consistent starter here. I think it’s less reflective on the talent of Flip and more of how much talent Duke acquires each year.

Right now, if Kyle Filipowski were to sign to play with Syracuse in 2022, he would be guaranteed to be the starting PF or the first forward off the bunch where he would achieve starter’s minutes.

if he does not want to play here then it is not clear regarding Duke and UNC due to the portal and their recruiting where he would play. It seems like Duke brings in 4-5 new players every year and sheds them the next year.

I can‘t tell about UNC because they already have 2 commits, one of which plays the Power Forward position. Center position is wide open at UNC but I believe that PF is Kyle’s best position.

Can't say this kid hasn't done his due diligence. He's been everywhere!

I made a comment up thread about Filipowski doing the biceps flex a little too often for a guy with pigeon arms.

He has since put in some serious work and is now cleared to do the biceps flex after any made basket.

I’m not surprised by this the momentum we so called had has come to a screeching halt

You guys are just so negative. A really good player has got a lot of really good offers. Surprise. We are right there with Flip. Maybe we get him. Maybe we don't. but a lot of other good schools aren't going to get him. He can only go to one. And he will play anywhere he goes because he is good. This isn't Tape or Jordan.

Dash call me crazy but I would like Flip to come play for Syracuse
