Class of 2026 PG Deron Rippey Jr. (NY/NJ) Offered

I’d say it means nothing just because it’s so early in his recruiting stage, things change very quickly
Let's see what happens with our Australian recruit next year before we worry about someone else.

Just reading the headline it’s kind of obvious it’s not here

Well, Deron says in the story that Syracuse is among the teams heavily involved. Not sure anything is obvious at this point in his recruitment, but he's already visited 'Cuse, the staff was just in to see him, and he plans to OV to SU next year :)
I think it's a case of most of us are used to heavily recruited and highly ranked recruits being involved with us early but we generally fall to the wayside once the big boys steps up with or without a big bag $$.

We need to get our sexyback. It will take some time to get in shape and to get a good facelift.

Oh, totally my friend. Plenty of highly ranked recruits in recent years had SU in the mix earlier on but ended up elsewhere. I do agree there. Encouraged by Donnie, Sadiq, Kiyan, etc., but gotta keep at it in 2026/2027, etc. Winning games on the court will help, too :)

I think we need to recruit a big, two wings, and a point guard every single year.

Way too much turnover to do otherwise. The risk of having no point guard at all can tank an entire season.

Plus, if we wind up with two top point guard talents, how does that hurt?

Now the other team has to worry about two guys who can run an offense, penetrate, shoot and defend at the point.

Two guys like Flynn, Ennis or MCW can definitely coexist for 10-12 minutes a game. They each take over whenever the other is resting.

If Rippey comes here and proves to be as good as he looks, Fennell can play shooting guard when they are in together.

I agree with coexisting positional players. The problem is, it seems like recruits today don't see things that way. Most good recruits with options will go somewhere they can see a lot of playing time. Unless, of course if it's Duke, Kanas, Kentucky etc.

Wishful thinking, but I want Rippey and Smith next year. That would be an ACC backcourt.
