Class of 2026 PG Dylan Mingo (NY / LuHi)

He didn’t get into specific people, but he said that coach is looking for length at all positions on the floor. Said there are 2-3 really good centers we are looking at and would be happy with the outcome! Really a great interview to learn about Tobiason! I love his attitude and wants to get better. The funniest part was about how SU is historically bad a free throw shooting and his goal is to have a percentage in the 90%! Love, love this pickup. He’s hungry and wants to get better!

Nice.
My pre-preseason favorite player.
Really seems like a great guy! Loved the talking about golf! Noticed Mike didn’t say hey, you don’t want to play against the hall of fame coach! But he did say you don’t want to play your coach’s son. You will lose your NIL money haha! Loved this podcast! I’m feeling really good about next year with all this length at every position!

This made me think that any self respecting Cuse basketball fan has to treat “2-3” as the new “6-7” the kids were confusing us oldies with a while back

No he’s the backup. He does however bring a lot to the table healthy. Very similar to the euro guys you see come in. They are physical, play hard and strongest finishing around the rim and hitting the boards. Just a lunchpail guy a lot like someone I the mold of Kristof just a bit taller than Kong. Not a starter for us though.

In the 9 games he played ( small sample an important note) this past year he had a TS% of 64 pct and a PER of 26.
Important to note that PER is not adjusted for strength of competition, despite repeated assertions by me to the opposite. BPM is.

For instance, William Kyle's best stats of his career came with South Dakota State, earning him a 24.9 PER. His BPM was 3.2.

In his senior year, Kyle was even better in some ways, but earned a 21.2 PER against ACC competition. Was he worse? No, BPM had him at a stellar 7.3 BPM, because the change in competition level.

You'll note, Goodrick's 26 PER resulted in a solid, but not unearthly 3.9 BPM.

If that number holds up, Goodrick would be a stellar backup, and possibly worthy of starting consideration. The Summit league where Kyle was a star is actually a slightly better league than the MAAC where Goodrick put up good stats before his injury.

I typed all this and realized I'm in a Mingo thread. I will crosspost to the more appropriate thread.

Yeah I’d rather he be competing with someone for backup minutes in all truth.

Because the market for elite centers is so expensive (not a lot of players available), analytics guy Evan Miya echoed what it seems our coaches told Aiden. Miya said coaches may just focus on getting two solid centers and that they may be better off doing just that instead of overpaying for an elite one.

translation: we can't afford the good ones so brace yourself we are getting two nobodies. I hate the nil era!

Someone doesn't understand the concept that there is more teams in the market for an elite center than they are available. At that point, even with the money, you have to convince the center why they should sign with you. Or we can go with your strategy and throw 10 million at an elite center, a number that no one else would match and destroy any resemblance of a culture and more reasons of why it's a horrible idea to even contemplate. This is actually where you set yourself in a favorable position moving forward in the center portal market if you need to be in it is to actually develop some centers that are good not great and turn them into great, so you can improve your chance at landing your top guy in the future granted you have the money to do so.

Dream scenario to finish everything off. Give me Freeman, Fielder, Folefac, Petar and one of the Mingo brothers to run point and call it a day

Old friend Petar? And are we actually linked with Fielder, I know people keep bringing him up, but I've seen zero links to him.

Plus, his dad played in the US Open (Golf).

Per our resident Creighton guru in Omaha, Freeman can’t defend at all. Also, Worried about 3 point shooting with gmac’s roster so far, would like Fielder in that regard

I like Fielder a lot but I want a guy who gets regular paint touches so you can play inside out. With Fielder you still might end up too often having to force that action. Now we will have drivers this year that can get to the rim which might offset some of that but the action I saw Gerry run using Folefac force the defense to stay more honest I want to see with this roster too. That’s why if you go Fielder you need Folefac as a 4 man in the rotation.
