A couple of things to keep in mind is that Fennell is a bit older than a typical freshman and has been playing against men. Granted he's playing in the Australian Penal League or whatever that league is, but its still a men's league and not high school kids.
Bit disrespectful considering this is a public board and we know recruits read this board.

My only hope is that Fennel can come in and contribute in some form. I’m not making any comparisons or predictions because it’s really a crap shoot, and the highlight films over the years that we’ve seeing of our recruits only gave us false hope.

Our best chance of improvement next season is being able to get quality and ready players to shoulder the load. We cannot expect freshmen, no matter how good they are to come in and lead the team. Melo was once in a lifetime. Also, sadly, the current staff have shown that they are not good enough to prepare/coach our freshmen to compete and it doesn’t appear that a staff change will take place.

Once again, it’s Portal/NIL $$ or bust.

Eh, I know a lot of Australians. They'd be in on the jokes.
I know a handful of Australians too. My last experience with them involved them drinking vodka by pouring it down one end of their sandal that they wore all day at the beach and drinking it dripping from the other end. Called it a "shoey". They'd be ok with this.

Justifying a generalization about a whole group of people using a generalization of "a handful" of a whole group of people.

All I'm saying is there was no need for the original unfunny joke.

Girard, Swider and Buddy. It seems like it was twenty years ago.
Awful defensive team, but great shooters. JB Jr was pretty good too that season.

Most of our best years we’ve had a mix of good to great shooters like Melo, Gmac, Duany, D Nich, Flynn, Rautins, Devo, Wes Johnson, Kris Jo, Triche, Waiters, Scoop, Gbinije, Cooney, Southerland, Lydon, Malachi, Tyus, Andrew White, Gillon, Elijah Hughes. Most of them were at least solid.

You saying its not funny doesn't mean it wasn't funny. A lot of peopel don't think Jimmy Carr is funny. Just as many think he is. Humor, as in beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Plus people are far to serious these days. Many Americans seem to take it upon themselves to be offended for others. It is an odd concept. Thankfully you can't yet be arrested for such comments.

It's called empathy. You can't just stand up and support things that affect you. There's no reason for punching down on marginalized groups. It's the biggest reason we are where we are as a society.

I fully agree with you, but what's the marginalized group of concern here? Australians?

It's just an unnecessary comment more than anything.
Like 99.5% of comments on this board are unnecessary lol. I found the comment funny and completely unoffensive-- and I have a pretty high radar for those sorts of things.

Hard to believe an otherwise complimentary post about one of our recruits has been twisted into in assault on Australians in general.

well that's what really matters, that you found it unoffensive

Australians are marginalized?

Keep twisting it.

All I'm saying is making fun of people's nationality, name, and other things they have no control over isn't something I have time for
Then you shouldn’t have time to impose your opinions about it on others

You comment was directly in reply to a joke about Australians

I think you've nailed a key issue several times in here -- which is the mental aspect of the game. We have a lot of "soft" players and a lack of leaders. Freeman has tons of athletic skills but seems to be missing an "IT" factor. Hopefully he develops it here next year. JJ isn't a leader. The hardest working guy we have is a freshman in Choppa and his defensive skills kept him on the bench too much.

I guess it's just me, and maybe I'm a hard ass. I grew up on Kellogg St., a poor neighborhood near downtown. My dad was a Marine during the Korean War, became a Staff Sergeant, and then an MP. When he came back to the states after 2 tours of duty, he became a security guard at Crucible.

His dad, my grandfather, literally looked like Ben Schwartzwalder. He and my dad and I would watch the Giants and Browns on a small black and white TV. His dad - my father's grandfather - had been burned to death by electrocution at Solvay Process.

People suffer in life. Some keep on grinding, and others can't take it. Life is hard. These young kids today should watch some episodes of Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates on PBS to see the shtt that so many of our ancestors went through, and survived. It made the survivors tougher. And the survivors passed that toughness on, for better or worse.

Survive or perish. Toughen up, snowflakes. Show some balls.

And to return this to a sports metaphor, Championships do not go to the timid, the meek, the polite. Championships are TAKEN. You have to dominate the opposition to win.

Standing on the shoulders of giants to tell other people to toughen up lol.

Our recipe for success under JB came down to a few things:
  • Returnees at guard, forward and big man for continuity
  • Two guys who could make three's
  • Point Guard to create shots for others & get to the rim
  • Rangy guys to defend passing lanes in the zone
  • Guys who could run the open floor
  • Rim protector, even if only part-time

Do you think what our families go through influences their descendants, or not at all? I've won a state championship. Have you?

I have an adult autistic daughter who they are trying to kick off social security for the last year and a half. I am litigating that case for free for her benefit, as well as a workers comp case where a well known local employer has really screwed her over.

When I was only 7 or 8 years old, my family knew I was going to be a lawyer one day. And I understood at an early age that the reason I wanted to do it was to prevent people from screwing over me and my family.

I just want to be left alone to live my life and provide for my family. But this country has turned disturbingly mean. Frankly, it sucks how everybody wants to judge and punish everybody else who doesn't agree with, or look like them.

Oh yeah, and thru all of this crap, I've been fighting cancer since 2023.

So yeah, toughen up you whiny ass bitches.
