Yeah I mean the schools were beating guys out for are a different level. I literally don’t know who we beat out for Carlos and Taylor? BC?
From 2 4 7:

Since entering the transfer portal, Carlos has heard from Rhode Island, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, LMU, Cal, Virginia Tech, VCU, Temple, Boston College among others. He has not taken any visits and his recruitment remains completely open.

So almost all non-tournament teams

It's almost like I have an extensive history of saying screw it and making an absurd claim.
Now that’s a sterling posting history!

I am probably a fool, but I expect JJ to be a different player next year. I believe he can fix his shot. He had better form in high school. I think he can improve that by shooting a TON of shots this summer. Also, he needs to work on his left hand. And, obviously defense. That sounds like a lot, because it is. But, this is his last shot. He has the ability, he just has to work his butt off.
To me, it seemed like he fixed his shot for a while, and then reverted back to what he was doing last year again. And his free throw “pause” became even more exaggerated, if that’s possible. But like you, I think he will be better if the game is allowed to come to him rather than him forcing things..

You expressed your opinion ad nauseum. Only a douche would keep harping insistently.
I basically said I'm not a huge fan and noted the concerns with athleticism and efficiency which are indisputable. And people wanted to dispute them so I responded

This feels like the starting 5. It seems like we promised Kyle a starting spot - Donnie at the 4, Kingz at the 3, backcourt of JJ/George. Not sure if Ballard comes to come off the bench.
We did not promise Kyle he would start.

You started doing that, and concerns about style are valid. Then you dug your heels in even further to fit some stats into your own narrow scope of athleticism, efficiency, which are disputable. You also rep checked the entire board claiming we don’t know who’s good or not. Everyone is rooting for the same thing, we hope he improves, and no one will be happy if he doesn’t pan out which may happen. Everyone on the team needs to improve, we stank last season. He’s the type of PG that the staff believe can raise everyone’s level and there’s logic there.

He’s not the best athlete but he’s quick enough to lead a good break and get past his man into the paint. His inefficiency is at the rim. Arguably the strength of the team is slashers and finishers around him (Starling, Kyle, White, Freeman) but he’s good and efficient enough mid range and 3pt shooter to keep his man honest and get into the paint to pass which he is good at, and why he is highly coveted by Syracuse. Claiming a 2+/1 assist to turnover ratio is the bare minimum is super subjective. We would have killed for this in the recent past. He was like 11th in the country in total assists, some passes where he and the receiver are on diff pages is tolerable.

One difference I saw the last five games is we played better it seems like we brought more defensive intensity, Freeman getting hurt, Westry not being able to contribute JJ getting hurt, idk what everyone expected…. I expect big things for this year

These guard pickups are really important not just for this year but for the next 2-3 years.

We could easily be in a world where JJ and Donnie left and we just add some random guys again to fill in pieces with solid freshman.

OK cool we would get to watch Kiyan and Sadiq start all season and the other freshman get major run and figure it out and learn and battle. The problem though is they would get the crapped kicked out of them all season and we would have another mess and the whole staff would be fired. Rightfully so.

Right now the setup is perfect though. Having Kiyan play 15-20 mins a game behind JJ / Kingz with a solid PG in George is ideal for him to take a big jump his Soph year. Same for Sadiq behind Freeman / Kingz.

There's a world in 2026 we could have George, Kiyan, Kingz, Sadiq, and play the 5 by committee again. JJ will graduate and Donnie should be NBA bound. Keep maybe 1 other freshman bring in another freshman project or 2 and reload in the portal.

*not saying Autry won't get fired, there'll be no excuses. If he makes a tourney run though there should be potential to keep momentum.

So is his defense good? Looking at basketball reference his Drtg is... not great. Not saying thats the end all be all but i just want to make sure he can cover for JJ.

Just to illustrate how bizarre the new portal/FA world is, it's arguable that the best realistic outcome for us and George this year is that in next year's free agency he gets poached by a monster $ program willing to pay whatever it takes for him.

Strange times.

Ok. That's enough gummies.

This is an important get. I still think we need a SF who can hit the 3, and a backup center. I would still take Petar and Cuffe back, if they can't find better landing spots.
They’re targeting a starting center. Kyle will be the backup. Kingz will be playing the 3. But yea, i think they’re trying to land at least one other wing/forward.
