Pitt game is the one i want most

It can be argued that we got it when Sullinger had to sit the whole first half...

Or when the refs bailed us out vs Asheville.
Listen to JB response in the video about the Asheville game call.

Sullinger only got fouls called in the first half. John Higgins fouled Dion Waiters, Kris Joseph, Scoop Jardine out of that game with foul trouble. I would trade 3 for 1.

Agree on the 1st one, but I think you and I watched two different games in the second one.

We won that game because Matt Dickey played 37 minutes and couldn't hit the broadside of a barn (going 1-13). The rest of the team hit 56%.

We were never behind more than 7 pts and that was in the 1st half. We were always within two scores in the 2nd half and took the lead on a Southy three with more than 9 minutes left to play. The best they could do from that point forward was tie us. And in the last 7 minutes, Dickey missed three treys, a jumper, and a layup and only had 1 assist late in the half. He also committed a couple of fouls hoping we would miss the free throws, but Scoop hit all four of his.

Cheers,
Neil

I agree, I think it's the biggest game of the year. But aside from the pride and respect, a win would officially put us in the driver's seat for the ACC title and placement in Buffalo and MSG. Like it or not, a loss would make our game at Pitt an absolute must-win, which is not the position I want to be in. Oh, and plus I hate Pitt.

Well, now wait. What if they beat us, but then they lose to several other ACC teams and we lose to fewer teams than them? And what if we beat them, but then lose at Miami, etc. The sad reality seems to be that we just need to win and win and WIN! (I think we can do it!)

Well, my scenario is assuming things play out more or less as expected after that. And Pitt has an easier schedule than us, so I really really want this game.

The call in the UNCA game certainly helped, irrelevant Boeheim one liner notwithstanding.

We luck out by playing almost the entire first half of the Ohio State game without their all american center (who incidentally had a couple questionable fouls calls on himself to put him on the bench) and all we can manage is a tie.

And some of our fans want to complain about officiating, conspiracies, etc.

In general I don't buy into complaining about the refs. The team that loses always does enough on their own to lose the game. Besides, it makes us look like a sh1tty, juvenile fanbase.

And if you don't believe me, just look at Kentuckys message board after they lost to Arkansas.

Of the 2 first half fouls against Sullinger 1 was questionable and the other was legit. I don't complain about officiating in basketball check my posts, but that Ohio State game officiating was AWFUL. I remember JB banging the scorer's table toward Jeff Hathaway who was representing the NCAA at the scorer's table after a TERRIBLE charge call and Hathaway putting his hands up and after seeing the replay confirm JB was right. That game was officiated terribly and if you disagree I can't change your opinion. Kentucky fans bitch if they lose any game as they see 40-0 as their manifest destiny I nor any rational SU fan does not have that mindset.

Duke has an away game at Pitt two days before our home game with them.

Oh nooooooo! I hardly know what to wish for! But it seems good for us. They will have played a very hard game with Pitt and then must turn around and play us. The end of the season is going to be intense. We have 3 away games in a row.

well a big reason it was only tied was a god awful charging call on triche late in 1st half that wiped out a 3point play and resulted in a tech for us, 5 point swing.

Well if Boeheim protested the call, sounds legit. Coaches are always unbiased in their complaints to the officials amirite?

I never said the officiating was good. But I don't think the refs COST US THE GAME.

If you listen to prevailing opinion here, you'd think we hadn't lost a big game legitimately in ages. Michigan, Ohio State, butler, Marquette. All jobs. God forbid we lose a game because the other team played well. Or we played poorly.

And yes, that makes us sound EXACTLY like Kentucky fans.

2005- Vermont beat us legit
2006- Texas A&M beat us legit
2009- Oklahoma beat us legit
2010- Butler beat us legit
2011- Marquette-Syracuse tied 59-59 with 52 seconds left Syracuse ball and the refs call Dion Waiters for a backcourt violation that the next day the NCAA apologizes for INCORRECTLY calling. Marquette gets an extra possession buries a 3 pt shot and we lose. How the hell is that not a legitimate bitch.
2012- Ohio State game Syracuse gets called for 28 fouls and bunch of them were HORRIBLE calls that swung a 50-50 game IMO. How is complaining about this make crazy?
2013- Michigan game MCW get called for a foul in a 3 point game when Trey Burke used his elbow to push off, and then the caper down 2 pts with 14 seconds Brandon Triche gets called for an offensive foul when Jordan Morgan blatantly slides UNDER the basket and hadn't established and the refs called decided that game unfairly. Yet, because I saw this I am a Kentucky fan. Jay Bilas WAS THOROUGHLY disgusted by that charge call deciding a national semi-final on the broadcast for ESPN International. Sadly, this the rule changed this year where refs are calling most block/charge calls as blocks instead of being charge happy.

Yeah I guess because I call out bad calls its makes a crazy Kentucky fan.

suplex??

We didn't lose to michigan because of some charge. We lost to Michigan because no one outside of Fair or Triche could make a shot, and some scrub for Michigan was hitting for half court.

And if your problem with the ohio state game was the number of fouls called, then I'm sure you have a real beef with this beauty.

http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=330820183

But I'm use those were legit, since those weren't called against us.

suplex??

Yeah I'm surprised this wasn't grout up by him. But yes, the only reason we lost this game was because of that, and the refs made us turn it over 18 times, including on our last possession up four.

Please don't use the Cal game to justify the Ohio State game. A lot of those Cal fouls were to extend the game as we weren't shooting FTs well at the end. Syracuse controlled the Cal game practically the entire game. Ohio State-Syracuse was a 50/50 game where whistles were called horribly all game long.

We lost to Michigan because we didn't play well, but the ZEBRAS charge call WAS THE DECIDING FACTOR. If the ref doesn't CALL Triche for an offensive foul and calls Morgan for the block as he slide under we are down 2 points with 14 seconds and Brandon Triche shooting 2 FTs instead the ref called a HORRIBLE charge and decided the game and fouling Triche out. Its nice of you to ignore the 2011 Marquette game as well. I don't rip refs unless its warranted we have gotten crappy calls that have decided outcomes of games in 2011, 2012, 2013.

suplex??
2010 Butler outplayed us and deserved it their wasn't a call late that decided the game. In 2011, 2012, 2013 the zebras impacted our losses. In 2010 the game was physical, but Butler didn't win because of the refs.

That's not entirely accurate.

We went twelve minutes without a fg in the cal game. From 19:30 until about seven minutes left we scored entirely on FTs. I'm sure cal fans (if there are any) have a beef with that fair or not.

And the Michigan game? We were down two. So if Triche gets the foul, he still has to make both, we still have to play D on the next possession, and we'd still have to win in overtime with our guards in foul trouble...except Cooney. Hardly THE DECIDING FACTOR, if you ask me.

And if MCW or Southerland have anything slightly better than an abysmal shooting game, it's a moot point.

Awfully hard to win in the final four if you only have production from two guys.

And regarding Marquette, maybe if our best player didn't do his usual NCAA tournament vanishing act, that backcourt violation would have been irrelevant.

Why didn't that "suplex" decide the game? We were winning and they drained a three shortly thereafter.

I don't understand why that didn't impact the game but the bad calls in 2011 or 13 did.

I am diehard fan and honestly I don't remember the suplex so I don't know much about it except it had to involve Matt Howard because had to be the Butler guy doing it. The biggest play in that game IMO was we were up 5 at the under 4 TO and immediately turned the ball over and Butler scored and we melted down.

If you have the stomach for it, watch it on NCAA Vault. It's quite impressive.

And yeah I believe it was Howard.

Speaking of controversy over losing a game (sometimes it goes our way):

It left longtimeUNC-Ashevillecoach Eddie Biedenbach seething.

"There's not enough time for cooling off for this one," he said. "Syracuse is better than Asheville. Tonight we were better than Syracuse. I have all the respect for Jim Boeheim, their team being 31-2. He 's a fantastic coach. They deserve all the recognition they've got this year. This (UNC-Asheville) was the better team tonight."

Boeheim wasn't buying it.

Asked if he thought that UNC-Asheville was better than Syracuse on Thursday, Boeheim said, "That's why they make scoreboards."
