They play Miami and ND back to back in the middle of October.

End the year at Clemson.

So far their defense is legit.

Agreed, Pitt is pretty good for sure, kind of has the old school Northeast type approach. Good defense, run the football take shots when run game is going. This should allow them to probably play better teams closely and have a shot.

I mean maybe if they had gotten lucky and ND and Clemson.

They always lose games they shouldn’t.

Hard to get a read on their D.. We had no oline and yet should have been ahead by 2 TDs and Lou just does what they do which is hope the skill guys break huge plays 3-4 times a game and let QB run around and throw up home run balls.

They have a good D but I think they’re overrated. As someone mentioned, we stopped that offense for 3 quarters & had plenty of chances. We mostly stopped ourselves with self inflicted wounds.
I can’t see that O scoring enough to win against the big boys.

They struggled against us for most of the game.. really they had 4td down conversion to score and a 3rd and 10 the D gave a 20 yd cushion for another. If our offense had done anything it would have been enough to win.

If we had Louisville’s offense we beat Pitt.
Pitt isn’t a top 25 now.
They are a 8-4 team in a normal year.
That if they were in the SEC would be overrated nationally but because they are in the ACC are underrated.

Their offense is going to struggle. Austin Peay is an anomaly. Notre Dame, Miami and Clemson can break their defense and force them to put up points to compete.

Does this fall in the same category as when you predicted Maryland was going to contend for B10 title last year?
To be fair there were many of us who thought Maryland was legit at the time

the assumption was also the QB who played so well against us wasnt gonna go get hurt as well. But poor coaching trumps skill guys all the time.

Didn't their top DL opt out too?

Their D will keep them in games, but, as noted, their offense won't. It will be their undoing.

To Go's original point, look at their schedule. They play 3 of the 4 ACC big boys. So while we all think they'll fail, it's still all in front of them at 3-0.

Louisville's offense didn't fare any better against Pitt than we did the week before.
I posted these stats in another thread:
SU offense: passing (13-24, 120 yds); 51 yds rushing (1 INT, 7 sacks)
Llville offense: passing 9-21, 107 yds, 116 yds rushing (3 INTs, 7 sacks)

Give Dino the quarterback from Louisville I think we beat Pitt.

our Oline thru 2 games

Game 1 D
Game 2 C

need to get to the Bs to be functional.

One good half of running the ball does not make an Oline.

Not that it matters but after that game I was crushed for saying at the end of the year they wouldn’t be competing for the title.

I think at times the board looks at losses to teams and tries to build those teams up to make our loss look not as bad.

And who was that?

Pitt is not that good ... Clemson and ND will handle them relatively easily.

That defense is for real and can make it a game with anyone.

To beat Clemson you need a defense that can keep the score within reason.

Pitt has that.

NC is a better team ... we had no shot, had a legit shot at Pitt ... Trevor Lawrence, Sam Howell or evening D’Erick King or Ian Book will points on the board. Pitt offense is terrible ... their D is slightly above average. Let’s not get excited about them based on the fact they beat the Ville ...

Very good point, its human nature and I bet it happens on most boards of passionate fanbases. Pitt is a well balanced team with excellent coaching, especially the coordinators. They have young talent at wr and the QB has moxy , smarts, and spins it well. He will play on sundays. I know some on this board aren't impressed, but it's the little things in keeping plays alive and being a leader and this team adores the young man.
