Pitt Postgame: all eyes on SUMBB

So the discussion here begins and ends with the series before half. Indefensible. Kyle McCord isn’t in that huddle. Rickie is not getting points on the board backed up inside the 25 with ;30 on the clock. Take a knee and get to the locker room. Pitt isn’t calling their TOS there- they’re getting the ball to start the second.

I cannot wrap my head around the decision to keep throwing the ball after Rickie almost threw a pick on first down. That was some junior high school game management. Fran needs to own it in the post game presser. He’s had a horrible week.

I can live with the flip flopping on Carney. It looked to me that Carney was operating on a very limited playbook. It looked they tried to insert him to spark the offense and when it didn’t work, they went back to Rickie.

I thought Rickie actually started to settle down a bit when he got back in, but I don’t see him as a long term solution.

If the staff thought replacing Rickie was a plausible outcome tonight, I hope they gave Carney enough reps during the week. It didn’t look like it to me.

The QB position is a bit of a train wreck right now. And our best playmakers can’t get the ball.
Yup. Agree across the board.

To be fair, it's pretty hard to spark the offense when you just have him hand the ball off for yet another run straight up the gut.

Does Syracuse consider Pitt a rival?

I'm genuinely curious.

Pitt seems to think it's a rivalry. They come in fired up every year and bully Syracuse.

I know this was the wrong time to play Pitt but it's hard watching the same thing year in year out. I'm frustrated right now.

It’s insane that yasin doesn’t consistently get 20 plus carries a game. He needs to get into a rhythm. He also needs something other than the same run up the middle every damn time.
Even worse is the short yardage going under center to run it up the middle. At least in the gun we get positive yards occasionally.

Our running game has been inept for all 20 games under Nixon.

The OL really struggled. Penalties, no run blocking. A 3-yard run felt like a big play. Betrand especially struggled pass blocking when he wasn't getting false start and holding penalties.

Sound take. Agree on most points. I liken it to this. When my wife drives, I'm on the edge of my seat. She doesn't anticipate anything, even when things seem fairly obvious. So she slams on her brakes or needlessly hits the gas. That's how I feel watching Rickie run this offense. And if Nixon is the GPS, he's directing Rickie to drive into the lake like Michael Scott and Dwight Shrute in one of my favorite Office episodes. And we don't even get the luxury of a fruit basket lol. Not an enjoyable experience.

The staff is totally lost on what to do with the O. 4 week after Angeli went down and they still don’t have a clue. It’s very discouraging. Obviously, Collins isn’t good. But it’s their job to figure out how to make the O at least semi-functional and they can’t do it.

Credit to the D, they hung in there and gave us every chance to win. For all the shlit that Robinson gets, his unit stepped up today.

Even Shafer competed with Mahoney
