People can forgive if Carney stinks up the joint. Rickie is a lost cause and will burn any goodwill there is with the fanbase. And at least Carney might be back next year so there is the development angle.

There is no reason to play Rickie. Which makes the fans angry.

I turned to my wife in the 2nd half and said they should all run sprints after this game. Everyone. Coaches. Players. Equipment Managers. Fran's 13 yr old son. His wife. Nixon's cat. Everyone.

- sincerely, a fan who would happily drive 3 hours to run the sprints with (and beat) you, but sure as hell wouldn’t drive 3 hours to go to game.

And for the record, I think Fran and co are right group for the job, but I want to see them darting too. Happy to do it with them to prove a point

He doesn’t hit the line fast enough. I get it, the constant up the middle run plays are agonizing but I don’t see a whole lot of running back vision at all.

It's hard to accept that Rickie is so bad we go from best passing attack in the country to barely able to score.

That’s honestly in a way making me feel worse about this situation. It’s like great, we had the best passing attack with Angeli, but it’s either works great or not at all. We couldn’t do anything to help out the defense today. We should be winning football games with that kind of defensive performance. We should’ve been able to find open guys with all the guys they brought on blitzes

Carney wasn’t in there long enough to say he isn’t ready. Is Collins ready?

I mean...physically...he's just not ready. That much seems obvious but I dont know, maybe you are seeing something different than me?

That aside, then the few pass plays were half field reads to the right side and Pitt recognized pressure would flush him to the right which effectively cut off the field. There is very little you can do when they are able to cut the field in half and compress the throwing windows.

I'm just as frustrated as you all are, believe me I want Superman to run out there and throw it all over the yard, I really do. But that's not going to happen. Collins gives us the best chance to win. I'm sorry, but that's the truth.

It’s insane that yasin doesn’t consistently get 20 plus carries a game. He needs to get into a rhythm. He also needs something other than the same run up the middle every damn time.

I would have got Carney as ready as possible during the bye. At least he can threaten with the legs. If he’s not it then you move on and keep recruiting QB’s. If this is the best we have then we need to recruit over the entire QB room. People counting on Angeli to be ready and 100% very well may be disappointed. We better be portal shopping .

I was at this game and it was beyond painful.
And I thought the limited use of Carney was both a tease and a great big * to the fans,

Literally every fan in that building was sick of the suck that is Collins.
We all wanted to see Carney.
So how do they use him - a few handoffs, a few poorly designed quarterback draws and 3 short passes - 2 of which he made.
He plays one whole series, then pulls him out for third down for Collins who is promptly sacked.
Carney then goes back to the bench where Collins goes back in and throws yet another interception.
I doubt if a single fan thought Carney was given a fair chance to show what he could do.
Instead we felt he was thrown out there to shut up the fans and then literally not even given the plays he needed to succeed.
Considering Collins has not improved in 4 games, and apparently Fran really refuses to give Carney a fair shake, where does this leave the program and fanbase.
I would say broken, broken hearted and feeling really betrayed.

I hope Fran realizes this has to be fixed or all his good will from the fans is just going to evaporate

And what the hell did the offense work on during the bye.

The play calling sucks 1000% agree, however Willis also is not the running back this board thinks he is.

at some point super talented players do it themselves at this level. Maybe not so much at the next one, but at this level, the elite can.

Am I the only one who thinks Rickie actually looked decent after he came back in, minus the sack, that was stupid, the 3rd INT was not his fault, thats an unlucky bounce and if Gill holds onto that it's a 50 yard gain and we are in a position to make it a 1 score game, could it have been better , yes, but it's sure as hell better than the last time I saw him throwing a deep ball, as in, it was on target and it's not his fault the Oline and specifically Naquil Bertrand can't go more than 2 plays without commiting a penalty. That is not to say that I think he's good, he's not, but he's not nearly as bad as some people act like he is.

Did I hope for more Carney, yes, but at the same time, and I know this may be hard for some of you to understand, I just don't think he's Ready, sure some of the play calling was subpar, but if he hasn't adjusted to the difference between fairly low level Texas private school and D1 P5 in terms to complexity and game speed, then there is only so much you can do.

WHY is Luke Carney doing the post game presser? He does not look happy. Further humiliation by HCFB? I don't get it. Almost bizarre. How quickly does he enter the portal? 12:01am on Jan 2? It's almost as if Fran is daring the fans to be supportive of his decision making.

Is Coach Fran's seemingly biggest attribute his arrogance and along with it his stubbornness? Is that what makes him a successful recruiter? But does it get in his way to be a successful head coach? If true, as some on here have expressed, he put Luke Carney in to show the fans he isn't ready and to therefore get the fans to stop calling for him to be put in, I think he failed. If anything it may have shown fans that Fran isn't ready to be a head coach. He may have lost a lot of credibility and support with the fans. And possibly made Luke Carney a cult hero, which is unfair to him. In the end we may look back and say maybe ADJW made a mistake hiring someone with no prior head coaching experience. I'd love to be wrong.

So I know of atleast BYU, Cal, Michigan, Maryland, and Pitt who are able to start true freshman. How did we not have someone ready coming out of a bye week when it was apparent we needed to try another option? If no one else in the QB room can be even tried as a semi competent QB they have no reason at all being on the roster. What is the staff doing during the week to prep these guys?
