PITT Round 2 Post Game

He will also be back with double the salary cap, which many around the program realized hurt this year’s product.

He has not been good this year. Let’s see what happens next year.
Wouldn’t it be better to hire a more dynamic HC that has proven they can run a program and give him those funds?

Yes because there's a laundry list of people above JW who make decisions, good lord.

I don't disagree cause that's how education works, (HS it's superintendent and school board) but seriously what's the point of having an AD then. Athletic Director should make the decisions or else what's the point.

JW gets all the credit for hiring Fran Brown and he also 'hired' Red but now he can't fire Red ?... weird

I'm not defending Red as he has been horrible this season and it's his program. Still I don't think that any coach would have made much of a difference because we simply don't have any talent. None at all. Zero.
I dont have a clue what the staff was thinking but wow I've never seen a worse SU team in my life.

So what’s the communication when he is brought back? Building a good foundation? No. Players who give 100% effort for 40 mins? Nope. Experienced coaches? they‘re learning on job. Not convinced they are making best in game decisions.

the only messaging I can think of is Alex Kline And something about how they will construct a roster.

If we all took a drink every time JJ had his shot blocked or he missed because he can’t shoot with his left hand, We would all look like Matt Park.
There are many other guys on our team who deserve criticism, but let’s call it like we see it. JJ was awful last night. He had five turnovers, played his usual disinterested defense, and forced numerous bad shots. his shooting form appeared to change during the game. He doesn’t appear to have an interest in setting up his teammates to score. I don’t see any way a team can be successful if he is one of the top three players on the team.

are we going to miss the ACCT?
Is it bad that I'm almost hoping they do miss the ACCT? Then I don't have to budget time to watch it, especially if it is a mid-day weekday that conflicts with work. It pains me to think that. And it pains me even more to type/say it.

The average publicly traded company has 9.2 members on it’s entire BoD. The average private entity’s board is between 3 and 7 people.

The Athletic subcommittee of the SUBoT has 13 members.

Discuss.
Does any decision need to be unanimous or just a simple majority? If simple majority, then quantity is irrelevant.

I've been at my job for several years, so have more time off than I know what to do with. So I always take at least Thursday and Friday of conf tourney and also those days for NCAA tourney week off. Never occurred to me I wouldn't have SU to watch at least during conf tourney week. Really sucks

That is complete garbage. Last night proved that the talent is there to dominate an average ACC opponent for 20 minutes. The talent is there when it executes and is used properly.

Regardless, there is no excuse for this program not having enough talent to run circles around its weaker opponents this year. Grant one mulligan... a close game or loss. We saw it in the best of years and certainly in our mediocre years. But all three of our first three opponents?? Fully healthy, we should have beaten two of those teams by 20+ given our obvious talent advantage.

The only blowout win of the year (15+ pts), really, was Albany. Just one. Last year, three (Chaminade by 49, LSU by 23, Oregon by 20). So, four blowout wins in 2 years.

By comparison, for all the mocking of the Boeheim kids as players, in 2021-2022, we beat Lafayette by 34, Drexel by 15, Brown by 31, Pitt by 16, Wake Forest by 22, Louisville by 23, BC by 19 and Florida State by 39. In a 16-17 season...8 blowout wins... half our wins were by 15+!!! The next year, we beat Lehigh by 18, Northeastern by 28, Oakland by 29, Monmouth by 15, Cornell by 15, Georgia Tech by 17. In a 17-15 season, 6 of our wins were blowouts. In JB's last two years, we had 14 blowout wins. 10 more than Red's first two seasons.

Why not just skip it like the NIT last year? And then maybe next year, we can stop playing in late February. The next year, January. Eventually, just play the exhibition games and leave it at that.

Why in the world would we want GMAC?
We are rapidly approaching the point where "anyone" becomes an upgrade over the current situation. Beyond that... who, other than Boeheim and Melo, is more of the face of Syracuse basketball for the last 20 or so years?
