I'm not defending Red as he has been horrible this season and it's his program. Still I don't think that any coach would have made much of a difference because we simply don't have any talent. None at all. Zero.
I dont have a clue what the staff was thinking but wow I've never seen a worse SU team in my life.
That is complete garbage. Last night proved that the talent is there to
dominate an average ACC opponent for 20 minutes. The talent is there when it executes and is used properly.
Regardless, there is no excuse for this program not having enough talent to run circles around its weaker opponents this year. Grant one mulligan... a close game or loss. We saw it in the best of years and certainly in our mediocre years. But all three of our first three opponents?? Fully healthy, we should have beaten two of those teams by 20+ given our obvious talent advantage.
The only blowout win of the year (15+ pts), really, was Albany. Just one. Last year, three (Chaminade by 49, LSU by 23, Oregon by 20). So, four blowout wins in 2 years.
By comparison, for all the mocking of the Boeheim kids as players, in 2021-2022, we beat Lafayette by 34, Drexel by 15, Brown by 31, Pitt by 16, Wake Forest by 22, Louisville by 23, BC by 19 and Florida State by 39. In a 16-17 season...8 blowout wins... half our wins were by 15+!!! The next year, we beat Lehigh by 18, Northeastern by 28, Oakland by 29, Monmouth by 15, Cornell by 15, Georgia Tech by 17. In a 17-15 season, 6 of our wins were blowouts. In JB's last two years, we had 14 blowout wins. 10 more than Red's first two seasons.
